The release of an official poster for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, starring Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio was met with mixed responses.
While many fans of the director and actors were merely happy to see something new involving the upcoming production, others have scrutinized the poster closely, claiming that the artists responsible for it have gone a bit too far in touching up the actors’ pictures.
Many of the comments stated that the actors looked straight-up Photoshopped and had little resemblance to their actual appearance at the moment.
The fact that the two were over 40 years old and yet looked like they had the bodies of much younger actors also took some by surprise.
It is not clear if this was a simple mistake in the production of the poster, or if someone is trying to pump up the appearance of both actors leading up to the release of the film that will be out in July.
A lot of supporters seem to agree that the retouching was utterly unnecessary and added nothing positive to the poster; however, and some have expressed their disappointment at the people behind the promotional material.
Still, it does not look like this is going to put the actual release of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in jeopardy, as the film has been moving on track and is still highly anticipated across the board.
Many fans of the two actors cannot wait to see them back in action, and the return of Tarantino himself has been craved by many for a while now.
Tarantino had this to say about the project: “It takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate.”
A few critics have other issues with the subject. For example, one of them stated: “So you made a movie about a pregnant woman being killed and it’s due just days before the 50th anniversary of it? That’s pretty sickening.”
