More revelations are being made about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry via the fascinating biographies that have been published about the couple.
According to the authors of Finding Freedom, the former actress and Harry’s first Halloween party was ruined by a phone call that changed their lives forever.
In late October 2016, Harry and Meghan were dating for about four months; and the royal, who already knew that the romance was real, often traveled from London to Canada to be with his lady love.
At that time, the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and Meghan was a secret; the pair wanted to keep things that way.
The royal and his then-girlfriend were able to have private dinners in the small town because the residents did not know who they are. And there were zero paparazzi around to expose their love affair.
On Halloween night, the couple donned masks and went to a party at Soho House with a group of people, including Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
The book revealed: “They especially didn’t feel like spending Halloween weekend in hiding, as there was much to celebrate. Some four months into their relationship, they were madly in love and eager to take part in the fun of one of their favorite holidays.”
The biography went on to say: “The evening of October 29, with Harry in town, the couple decided to go to a big costume party being thrown at Soho House in Toronto. Surrounded by the establishment’s exclusive clientele and confident due to a rule that discouraged patrons from surreptitiously snapping pictures with their phones, Harry and Meghan felt at ease.”
Royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand explained that Meghan and Harry were having the perfect night when an unexpected phone call ruined everything.
One of Harry’s aides called from London to reveal that a newspaper was about to expose their romance to the world.
The authors claimed: “A cocktail or so into the party, they were both feeling relaxed, absorbing the Halloween spirit. It was possibly the perfect night out – until they received a call from one of Harry’s aides at Kensington Palace. It wasn’t good news.”
The power couple was angry, left the event, and went back to Meghan’s apartment to figure out their next steps.
Harry’s team requested that he returned to London immediately to handle the situation. He refused and stayed in Canada to comfort Meghan.
Some experts believe that the incident got them closer.
