It has been a year of highs and lows for Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry.
The couple made waves when they stepped down from their royal duties almost one year ago. While there were many feuds with the other members of the royal family and Meghan’s relatives, the pair had many occasions to celebrate, including the many paid events they took part in.
Harry and Meghan also received the joyful news that Netflix had agreed to a massive multi-year deal with them. It was a positive development they needed as they faced a terrible tragedy.
Meghan has revealed that she suffered a miscarriage over the summer. She penned a powerful piece that captured the many losses of the year 2020.
She shared her intimate story with these words: “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal. In the pain of our loss, my husband and I discovered that in a room of 100 women, 10 to 20 of them will have suffered from miscarriage. Yet despite the staggering commonality of this pain, the conversation remains taboo, riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning.”
Through it all, Harry and his wife are happy and smiling again and look forward to their first Christmas in California.
A source revealed to PEOPLE that Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is the one who has put his parents in the holiday spirit, and they have been decorating and putting up Christmas trees with him.
According to the publication: “The family is excited to decorate for Christmas. They are very happy. Archie is thriving and growing quickly. As a family, they spend hours outside.”
The family friend continued: “Ever since Archie arrived, everything has been so turbulent, and many things have been up in the air. It has not been easy, necessarily. For the first time in a long time, they have a clear focus.”
The close source went on to reveal that the power couple is in love with California, and they have made it clear that it is their permanent home.
“They both love California, and Santa Barbara has a magic to it — the mountains, oceans, vineyards, flowers, gardens. It’s so beautiful,” the insider claimed.
It is believed that Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, spent Thanksgiving with the trio and will likely join them again for the year-end festivities.
