Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had a change of heart about the christening of their baby girl, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
It was claimed that Prince Harry told his friends during his most recent trip to London that he wanted Queen Elizabeth II present for his baby’s royal christening at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
Both Meghan Markle and her husband were slammed for making an unreasonable demand.
At the time, royal biographer Angela Levin said Prince Harry was putting Queen Elizabeth in a “difficult position” by expecting her to be present because she has missed countless royal babies’ christenings.
She called Prince Harry’s request unreasonable. It seems that the power couple has decided to move away from the idea of having the religious ceremony in London.
According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliam, the power couple has opted to christen their second child in California.
The pair has been living in a luxury mansion in Montecito since stepping down from their royal duties in early 2020.
The royal expert believes that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will have a secret christening.
It is unknown if the Queen declined to be part of the event — prompting Meghan Markle and her spouse to move it to the United States.
Fitzwilliam revealed to the Express that the couple would “do things their own way” and will make an effort to avoid the mistakes they made during the ceremony for Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Prince Harry and the philanthropist were slammed by the media for the unprecedented secrecy around the chosen godparents for Archie.
He revealed: “It seems certain that her christening will be in Meghan’s home state and with the secrecy but without the controversy that surrounded Archie’s christening.”
The broadcaster went on to say: “Harry and Meghan’s relations with the British press went badly downhill when Archie was christened in private, and the names of the godparents were not released. The Sussexes were emphatic that they intended to do things their own way, and so it has proved.”
He added: “It must be likely that she will be christened in California though there were rumors of a possible christening at Windsor.”
Fitzwilliam also stated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have become more protective as parents, which would explain why they have yet to share a picture of baby Lili, who was born in June.
Insiders told Eden Confidential a few weeks ago: “Harry told several people that they want to have Lili christened at Windsor, just like her brother. They are happy to wait until circumstances allow.”
The power couple is also trying for new controversies not to affect their different ventures.
