Prince William might be a future king who is often stoic and unrattled by the events around him — but he had a very human reaction after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made racist allegations against his family.
It has been confirmed that Prince William was furious after the airing of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
During the sit-down, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed that a member of the royal family, who shall remain nameless for the time being, made a racist remark about the skin tone of their unborn child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Meghan Markle laid her soul bare as she confessed that she was suicidal while a working member of the royals and explained that she suffered greatly from the racist comments.
Despite being pushed by the media mogul, the Duchess of Sussex declined to disclose the royal’s identity, as this would be “damaging” to their reputation.
However, in the newly-revised edition of the biography of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Finding Freedom, it is claimed that the Duke of Cambridge was extremely angry that his brother and his wife were discussing such private matters publicly.
And following the interview, he reacted by stating that the royal clan was “very much not a racist family.”
At the time, Prince William was also questioned if he would talk to his brother or Meghan Markle about their public conversation with Oprah Winfrey, but the Duke of Cambridge retorted with, “No, I haven’t spoken to him yet…but I will do”.
Meanwhile, in the updated version of Finding Freedom, authors Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie claimed that most of the royals were “quietly pleased” that Meghan Markle was not present at the Duke of Edinburgh‘s funeral in April, as the Duchess of Sussex was not able to travel due to her pregnancy.
According to the biography, members of the royal family were relieved of Meghan’s absence because they “didn’t want a circus,” as many anticipated that her presence at the funeral could “create a spectacle.”
Omid Scobie also sat down with PEOPLE magazine for an interview where he explained after Prince Harry’s surprising interviews with Oprah, his appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast, and Apple TV’s mental health series The Me You Can’t See, the relationship with Prince William has not made any progress.
He said: “In terms of Harry’s relationship with his father and brother, that progress has been very little. I think he is quite willing to own his part in everything, but I have been told that he is also waiting to see some of that on the other side – and as of now, there hasn’t been that.”
Prince Harry has signed a massive deal for an upcoming tell-all memoir that will give an “accurate and wholly truthful” account of his life.
The book will be released in 2022 and will take some of the limelight off Queen Elizabeth II‘s Platinum Jubilee or seventy years of service.
