The PR war between Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, seems never-ending, and according to royal fans and experts, the future king of England has been declared the winner of the last round.
Recently, Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, took their first big trip as independent members of the British royal family.
The famous royals turned activists traveled to New York, where they mingled with high-profile politicians and health experts. The pair had dinner and drinks at a few fancy eateries.
The trip ended with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, taking part in the Global Citizen Live concert.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex‘s whirlwind mini-tour included numerous wardrobe changes, meet and greets with royal backers, surprise appearances, and powerful speeches.
Many royal experts were quick to say that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s much-hyped trip was not successful because of the fashion faux pas and the odd cameraman following them around.
They were also called out for lecturing people when they travel in private jets and massive SUVs.
Dan Wootton, a journalist and royal expert, penned these words about the trip: “Their so-called ‘adventure’ to the Big Apple has been widely dismissed as a monumental flop – part Kardashian/part minor royal with a superiority complex on a low-grade tour. Meghan’s fashion was widely criticized as crass, as she donned an eye wateringly expensive kaftan-like designer suit to read her own critically panned picture book at one of New York’s most underprivileged schools and a succession of ludicrously weather-inappropriate outfits. Their uneducated vaccine preaching was overshadowed by a decision to down drinks with socialite friends at a posh New York hotel then fly home on a carbon-guzzling private jet. Classy!”
Royal expert Russell Myers gave a negative review of the trip on the podcast Pod Save The Queen. He shared: “I was really interested in what traction this got in the States, and the only thing I’ve seen that was banding around Twitter was the New York Post taking a swipe at them for rolling up in town in a load of gas-guzzling vehicles, big old security detail.”
He continued: “I don’t think it did get a lot of traction in the United States. I don’t know necessarily whether they are as adored in the United States as we were first thinking.”
As Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and his wife were reeling from their PR disaster, Prince William and Kate Middleton and their children swooped in for an impromptu photo that painted them as natural and heartwarming and down to earth.
A picture leaked via The Sun showing the future king and queen of England and their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — having lunch in a garden just outside of London.
The royal couple and their young kids were all casually dressed and enjoying burgers and fries while sitting around a picnic table. The family was seen laughing and chatting as they enjoyed their meals.
Prince William melted hearts as he quickly intervened and consoled one of his children, who grew impatient because their food was too hoot.
An eyewitnessed said this after watching the family of five eat: “It was amazing to see how down-to-earth the family were. It would have been easy to miss them — and just assume they were any other family.”
The person added: “It would have been easy to miss them – and just assume they were any other family. They were laughing and chatting and clearly enjoying each other’s company. They were eating outside, I suppose, because it was easier for the children. There was no security around, just them chilling like any other family. Wills had a burger and chips.”
The British citizen concluded by: “They had their pet dog, a spaniel with them, and they were all laughing. One particularly touching moment was when one of the children got upset because their food was too hot. William was so fast to reassure them and sort them out. It was fantastic to see.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still have work to do to convince doubters.
