Oprah Winfrey was front and center when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had their royal wedding.
Oprah, who was stunning at the lavish Londonian ceremony, later praised the couple and said it was a historic event that would mark the world.
She had this say about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s impact on society: “It was more than a wedding, I thought. It was a cultural moment. And you could not be there or watching on television… and not feel that there was a shift that just happened in the middle of it. I think it’s bigger than them, and I think it bodes well for hope for all of us.”
She is one of the only celebrities who befriended Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland. Prince Harry’s mother-in-law was seen enjoying Oprah’s company on multiple occasions at her stunning California mansion.
The billionaire gifted Ragland some baskets, and there were rumors that an interview was in the making — but it never came to fruition.
Oprah Winfrey is often presented as a close friend and neighbor of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle whenever she works with them.
For a while, the trio seemed inseparable business-wise. She did multiple tell-all interviews with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The iconic reporter and TV host teamed up with Prince Harry to co-create and executive produce an Apple TV series called The Me You Can’t See, which focused on mental health.
In an emotional multi-part documentary series, Prince Harry left no stone unturned in the interviews. He spoke about his pain and destroyed the royal family who unconsciously contributed to his “unresolved traumas.”
For many, it had appeared that Meghan Markle had made into Oprah’s tight circle. However, in a new interview, the award-winning TV host revealed the only three people she considered friends, and the royal couple is not mentioned.
She confessed: “I don’t have a lot of friends. Everybody knows Gayle [King]. There’s Gayle. There’s Maria; there’s Bob [Greene]. And that’s about it, you know? Gayle and Maria, I met around the same time; Gayle and I [have been friends for] 42 years, Maria and I [have also been friends for] 42 years.”
Oprah dropped the truth about her relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Despite courting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for years, telling the world that “she loves them,” sending them gifts, and promoting their brand on multiple occasions, the former daytime queen made it clear that they have not made it in her tight friend zone.
Oprah revealed that she has let new members inside her inner circle, but failed to mention Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by name.
She added: “I never really expanded that circle until recently. You know, I had become friends with a couple of people in my later adult life in the past five years.”
Most recently, Oprah opened up about Meghan Markle’s baby girl, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, amid rumors that she had been picked to be the godmother.
The legendary journalist and actress said that she is considered a friend, but she does not want the official title of godmother.
Oprah said this: “I don’t need to be a godmother, and I’m a godmother by default. I’m a neighbor, I’m a friend, and all that, Harry and Meghan “probably need someone younger to be the godmother.”
Royal experts felt that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have become rock stars who mingled and befriended only Hollywood A-listers and that Prince William and Kate Middleton were losing their grip and star power.
Like everything that takes place in California, Oprah’s revelation will undoubtedly be discussed in the palace walls and leave many royal family members stunned.
