Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, were forced to issue a statement about their private lives in a rare move.
The power couple decided to address the countless rumors going around about the christening of their 5-month-old baby girl, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
It was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had asked Queen Elizabeth II to be present for the religious ceremony set to take place in England whenever she became available.
Before the 95-year-old monarch could even give an official response, Prince William is said to have used his authority as heir to the throne to intervene on behalf of his grandmother.
A royal insider claimed that Prince William has made it clear that the baptism is not taking place in Windsor because this is not a good time for the royal family.
According to NBC royal correspondent Neil Sean, a reliable royal source explained that Prince William vetoed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex‘s request and added: “According to a very good source, Prince William was the one who basically said ‘no, we don’t think this is going to work,’ it wasn’t a particularly good idea.”
This week, another royal expert has revealed that the painful and public snub from Prince William will push Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not only to drop the idea of having the baptism in England but drop a significant announcement that it has already taken place at the Episcopal Church in California.
According to royal expert Russell Myers, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle probably held back in their initial statement where they said they have not made up their minds as yet.
He shared that the duo will not share any details ahead of the event and will do this instead: “I think that the word from their people is that they haven’t decided. I don’t know whether I necessarily will take that at face value. I just think they will probably drop an announcement that it’s already happened and that will be all you know about it.”
He predicted that there is a possibility that Prince Harry and his spouse might take the opportunity to share the first photos of their baby girl finally.
He explained: “It’ll be very interesting to see if it is in the States, whether there are pictures that emerge over in the States, whether you get to know who her godparents are, because hark back to the time when it became such an issue that Harry and Meghan decided not to release the names of [Archie’s] godparents.”
It seems that Prince William will win this round against the power couple.
