Yolanda Hadid, the mother of model Gigi Hadid, has thrown a real grenade in her daughter’s relationship with singer Zayn Malik.
The 57-year-old Dutch-American former model has accused the former One Direction member of hitting her during an altercation. The incident reportedly took place last week.
The mother of three is even thinking of filing a police report against the British artist.
Malik has denied the claims and said that he is working on putting the pieces back together. The pop sensation is 28 and is the proud father of Khai Hadid Malik, a daughter he has with Gigi.
He told TMZ: “I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid, and for the sake of my daughter, I decline to give any further details, and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.”
The Real Housewife of Beverly Hills star is not backing down and maintains that the “Pillowtalk” singer “struck” her.
Zayn Malik started dating in 2015, and the pair first split in 2018. They confirmed that the romance was back on in early 2020. In mid-September 2020, they welcomed their child.
The drama with Yolanda indirectly lets the world know that the couple is no longer together. Sources say that they have not been an item for months.
Bella Hadid‘s sister has put out a statement that did not reveal much. It read: “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”
Previously, Malik addressed the allegations on social media. He wrote: “This was and still should be a private matter, but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press.”
He continued: “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared, and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
Some fans have defended the music sensation because they say he was just defending his child’s privacy. Others have argued that Yolanda was never fond of Malik.
However, there is no proof that the reality TV star ever had issues with the musician.
Defenders of Yolanda point out that she has had to deal with health issues so that Malik could have been more careful.
Critics of Malik say that he has been involved in tense moments in the past and almost got physical in New York earlier this year. It is hard to paint him as an innocent bystander, they add.
