Country music darling Carrie Underwood is not a big fan of Luke Bryan‘s sense of humor, especially when the joke is about Aaron Rodgers.
Bryan, who was hosting the CMA Awards, brought up Rodgers and made fun of the NFL star’s claims that he was “immunized.” While most people in the audience laughed, Underwood had no time for that.
Bryan told the other celebrities: “We’re following all the health protocols to keep everyone safe, and it is so great to be here with all my fellow artists, tested and together. Or immunized? Who is it? Just playing.”
Rodgers recently tested positive for the coronavirus and admitted that he is unvaccinated. However, he had previously claimed that he was “immunized.”
This created a lot of confusion and sparked many conversations in the entertainment world and around the country. The issue quickly became political, and many conservatives and Republicans rallied around the Green Bay Packers quarterback.
The partner of Big Little Lies actress Shailene Woodley apologized for misleading the public about his vaccination status, but he still retained the backing of many people on the right.
Rodgers’s supporters see the vaccination requirement as an infringement on their individual freedom.
Mike Fisher‘s wife gave Bryan the side-eye after the wisecrack. The shade was thrown at the “One Margarita” artist because, for the 38-year-old mother of two, the COVID-19 vaccine issue seems personal.
Last week, her husband came out in support of Rodgers via an Instagram post. His message read: “I stand with @aaronrodgers12. I believe in the freedom to choose what we put in our bodies and the freedom of conscience. I agree with him in that the science clearly shows the vaccinated spread covid at basically the same rate as the unvaccinated.”
Fisher continued: “If they really cared about people’s health, they would have daily testing for all. But these past 2 years has clearly shown us that this is not about our health; it’s about control over our lives.”
Underwood liked the Instagram update. The American Idol winner got mixed reactions on social media for the side-eye.
Some commenters say that Underwood has changed a lot over the years because she was more humble when she first started. However, a few defenders say she has the right to her opinion.
One backer wrote: “Good for her … she doesn’t care and she shouldn’t… good for her husband for speaking out and for her not worrying about being canceled by the woke lefties ?? ?.”
Most observers did point out the side-eye was probably not a very big deal.
