A two-part documentary that is being broadcast on BBC has caused a rift between members of the royal family and the network that might become irreparable.
After Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William, and Prince Charles issued fiery statements blasting the new controversial documentary, The Princes and the Press; they are now taking concrete and extreme action to show their anger.
The program focuses on the royal family’s complicated relationship with the press.
The first episode dealt with the drama that took place between Prince William, his younger brother, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, before they moved to California.
Kate Middleton and Prince William made a rare move and banned BBC from broadcasting their Christmas show
Unhappy with the heads of the network’s decision to air the unflattering royal program, Prince William and Kate Middleton have taken their sweet revenge by pulling thus far one of their shows from BBC.
The Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, have banned BBC from broadcasting their upcoming Christmas concert that is expected to bring great ratings.
Duchess Kate will host the charity carol concert that will take place at Westminster Abbey.
Prince William and his wife made their stance known by offering the holiday show to BBC’s rival, ITV instead.
ITV has struck ratings gold because of the terrible row over the documentary.
A source told The Sun that Kate Middleton would make history by being the first royal to host a TV concert and added: “It is a brand new format — the royals have never hosted a televised TV concert before. And to have the Duchess leading on it is a big deal. Naturally, most royal programming goes automatically to the BBC as the national broadcaster. Now it looks like they will work more with ITV in the future.”
Queen Elizabeth, Kate Middleton, and Prince William to take more drastic measures in the future
Many believe that the daring move from the British royal family to pull the concert from BBC is only the tip of the iceberg.
And it is claimed that Her Majesty and the heirs to the throne will take even more drastic measures in retaliation.
A reliable royal insider spoke to the Daily Mail and revealed that future projects between the royal family and the network are now in peril.
The publication wrote: “One source said it was clear that William, who worked with the BBC over his Earthshot Prize but is protective of his staff and their reputations, would have to seriously consider any further projects. And that may extend to other senior royals. They have been angered, not just by the claims made in the documentary, called The Princes and the Press, but also by the broadcaster’s approach to the project.”
New royal documentary claims Prince William’s staff briefed the media against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, and his wife became furious after BBC denied their request to view the two-part program in advance.
The famous family was not given the opportunity to address the accusations adequately.
The royals, especially Prince William, clashed with the network over what he described as “unfounded claims.”
Part I of the documentary suggested that there were issues between the Cambridge couple and the Sussex duo.
Author Omid Scobie, co-writer of the bestselling book, Harry and Meghan’s biography, Finding Freedom, said that Prince William’s team and courtiers leaked humiliating stories about Meghan Markle to “put her in her place.”
He revealed: “There were some people who felt she [Meghan] needed to be put in her place. I think by leaking a negative story, that’s punishment. There have been rumors for quite some time that a lot of the most damaging and negative stories… have come from other royal households or from other royal aides. From my own research and reporting, that’s exactly true.’
Prince Harry and Prince William’s tumultuous relationship will take another blow
Part II of the documentary will air on Monday, and it will cover a more thorny period between the brothers.
It will focus on the timeline from 2018 to 2021. Meghan Markle claimed that around that time, she was suicidal and did not receive the proper help she needed from the royals.
Markle also confessed that a royal family member made racist remarks about her son while she was pregnant.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams predicted that part two will “undoubtedly worsen” the relations between the brothers and added: “The second part will undoubtedly deal with the rift between the previously inseparable Princes and how the press covered it. This is a tragedy and has played out worldwide without, so far, any signs of being healed. The departure of the Sussexes from the ranks of senior working royals after so short a period was disastrous for the institution. It was also significant that Meghan was represented in the program by her lawyer who denied she had been “difficult or demanding” to work for. Some recollections, of course, may vary.”
The tension is rising again between the two clans.
