Many shocking claims have been made in the latest bombshell book about the British royal family.
However, the one that has taken a life of its own is about how a last-minute decision by Queen Elizabeth II caused Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, to quit their royal duties and never look back.
Queen Elizabeth’s action made Prince Harry and Meghan Markle feel like they were no longer part of the family, says author
This week, multiple extracts from the new book Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan were released.
Page Six was the first to obtain passages from author Christopher Andersen.
According to the writer, Queen Elizabeth II played a key role in Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s decision to break free from the royal family in early 2020.
Like the years before, in late December of 2019, Queen Elizabeth delivered a speech to the British people and the world.
The bombshell book detailed the minor changes that Elizabeth II did moments before the cameras started rolling that changed the course of history for the British royal family.
It is claimed that Her Majesty was displeased by her grandson’s decision not to spend the holidays with her. Instead, he flew to North America to be with his mother-in-law.
The author claimed that Her Majesty decided to retaliate minutes before she started recording her annual Christmas message.
It was revealed that the Queen looked at her desk and felt uncomfortable with one picture.
She told one of her aides that while the photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince Philip, and her father, King George VI, should remain on her desk, she was not interested in having a framed portrait of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, next to her when she delivered her remarks and well wishes.
An anonymous source is quoted by the author saying: “The Queen looked over the tables where the photographs she had so lovingly selected were arranged. “All were fine but one, [the Queen] told the director.” Then she pointed to the Sussex picture and said: “That one, I suppose we don’t need that one.”
According to the book, Queen Elizabeth felt the need to dump the photo because she was unhappy that Meghan Markle and her family opted to spend the year-end holidays in Canada with her mother, Doria Ragland.
The couple issued a statement confirming that they were miles away from the British clan and requested privacy.
The statement read: “As has been reported, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private family time in Canada. The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both.”
A the time, a reliable source spoke to Harper’s Bazaar and confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had preferred the holidays to be spent with Doria Ragland instead of the Queen.
The publication revealed: “Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, will join the family of three. It was previously reported that Meghan, Harry, and Archie were spending their time off in the United States, where Ragland resides. They’re also expected to spend Christmas with her rather than with the Queen and the rest of the royals at Sandringham.”
Prince William’s reaction to the public snub revealed in the new book
When the program was broadcast, members of the royal family, Prince Harry, his spouse, and the rest of the world were quick to notice the epic snub.
According to the insider, when Prince William realized what his grandmother had done, he turned to his wife, Kate Middleton, and said that Prince Harry would be “terribly upset.”
After seeing the Queen’s gesture, Prince Harry told a friend that he “felt as if he, Meghan, and Archie were being erased from the family.”
Less than a month after the photo drama, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their departure from the royal family.
Queen Elizabeth issues blistering statement about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle photo scandal
While Queen Elizabeth has been the subject of many royal books and unauthorized biographies, her motto is to stay mum.
However, she decided to issue a statement addressing the claims made by the author.
Her spokesperson said: “We don’t comment on books of this kind as to do so risks giving it some form of authority or credibility.”
Representatives for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said they are not commenting on the accusations.
Reps for Prince William and Kate Middleton had no comments on the matter.
