The year has barely started, and Meghan Markle is already facing a tough challenge.
Queen Elizabeth II expects Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, to be magnanimous this year and travel to London for her historic milestone.
Her Majesty is hoping that her grandson and the former American actress will put their differences aside and take part in the celebration of her Platinum Jubilee set to take place in June of 2022.
Since stepping down from their royal duties, the Duke of Sussex has returned to London several times; not the same can be said for his spouse.
Fearing backlash because of her abrupt exit and her controversial interviews, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has not stepped foot in the United Kingdom for the past two years.
The couple’s oldest child, Archie, has not been in his native country since he left in early 2020.
Royal experts Jonathan Sacerdoti sat down with Christina Ross and Christina Garibaldi on the Royally Us podcast to talk about Meghan Markle’s plans for the festivities.
Garibaldi revealed that she believes that the activist will attend the jubilee and make sure that Queen Elizbeth meets her great-granddaughter, Lilibet Diana.
The commentator shared: “Meghan will probably be in attendance if traveling and everything is okay with the kids and everything like that. So this will be the first time that Meghan and Harry have come back. Obviously, Harry came back for the statue unveiling but this is the first time that the Queen will hopefully meet her great-granddaughter.”
Sacerdoti is not certain that Markle will fly to Europe any time soon. Citing a royal source, he claimed that the future politician would most likely stay in her California mansion while her husband celebrates with his family.
Sacerdoti claimed: “This could be the case. I have heard some rumors that maybe Prince Harry will come back without Meghan. It is notable that she hasn’t been back during those visits he’s made. She hasn’t really been back to the UK as far as I know, since they left and she may sense that she is not the most popular person here with the public.”
The royal pundit went on to say that Meghan Markle will come up with an excuse for bailing on Queen Elizabeth — she might stick to the same reason that she has been using in the past months — she does not want to take the spotlight away from the royal family.
He elaborated: “So it might be that they’ll find a reason for her not to come, could be the children, it could be that they just don’t want to steal the focus away from those celebrations and the Queen.”
He stated that Meghan Markle would be the main conversation no matter what she decides.
Her presence will spill ink, and her absence will do the same.
He revealed: “But of course whatever they do, unfortunately for them and for the Royal Family, it will steal some focus because if she doesn’t come, everyone will be talking about that. If she does come, everyone will be talking about that.”
He added that the big challenge would be for Meghan Markle to prove to the Queen and the rest of the world that she can be magnanimous and diplomatic.
He also noted that there is a possibility that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle no longer remember how to keep a low profile and not steal the show.
He concluded the segment by saying: “So whatever happens, I think there’s going to be plenty of discussion of how their relationship is with the Queen and the wider Royal Family. And that means that this could be an opportunity for them to come back and appear magnanimous, and really just throw themselves into the celebrations and keep a low profile. If they remember how to do that. I’m not sure.”
He also added: “Or it could be a moment that they act diplomatically, and maybe Harry comes back that Megan doesn’t, and then the celebrations might go on after a bit of gossip column style coverage of that.”
2022 might might be complicated for some members of the British Royual Family.
