Kate Middleton will be with her family, including Prince William, as she celebrates a major milestone — she will turn 40 years old on Sunday.
As the future Queen of England gets ready to enjoy her special day, it is believed that in the back of her head, she will be asking what has become of the excellent relationship she once had with Prince Harry who was once compared to her “little brother.”
According to a royal expert, in the past years, things have drastically changed between Prince Harry and the woman he once called the “the sister he never had.”
In a new interview, royal commentator Duncan Larcombe explained that Prince Harry and his sister-in-law drifted apart after he and his wife, Meghan Markle, decided to step down from their royal duties.
The British prince and the former American actress exited London in January 2020.
The couple has relocated to California, where they live in a lavish mansion with their two young children, Archie and Lilibet Diana.
The famed author revealed that the relationship between the Duchess of Cambridge and the Sussex couple broke down after the life-changing move.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, the royal pundit explained: “Kate was, as Harry said, the sister he never had and clearly that is not the case anymore.”
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, will feel Prince Harry’s lost friendship on her special day because he always played an important part in whatever event that she was celebrating.
The harsh reality is that Prince Harry lives thousands of miles away from the British royals and will therefore not be able to partake in any potential celebrations.
The royal expert shared: “There was a time when Harry would have been instrumental in any celebrations or any fun that the couple was having, but those days are long in the past.”
He added that all eyes will be on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to see what kind of gesture they will make towards Middleton on her birthday.
Larcombe stated: “It will be very interesting to see what messages Harry and Meghan send Kate. This is the problem, as the rift continues, as the war between the boys seems to show no sign of finishing, days like Kate’s 40th birthday milestone immediately become events that can be contrasted with how it used to be.”
Kate Middleton will mark her 40th birthday on January 9th with what is described as a “low-key” event because of the rise of COVID cases in England.
It will not be as glitzy as Meghan Markle’s celebration, which included a TV appearance and the launch of an initiative.
He went on to say: “Kate and William are not the sort to go away to celebrate on their own and leave the kids at home. I think the same will apply to Kate’s birthday as it does to Christmas – it will be low key, and it will be focused entirely on the family.”
It is believed that Queen Elizabeth II will give Kate Middleton the lavish party she deserves in June.
