As time advances and experts look at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s decision to step down from their royal duties and move to California permanently — they have discovered that the consequences might be more significant than previously imagined.
In early 2020, the British prince and the former American actress rattled the world by announcing that they were exiting the royal family to become financially independent and forge their own path.
Since leaving the UK, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have become household names as activists, celebrities, speakers with their feet firmly planted into the political world.
The duo has been able to do charitable works while signing multiple lucrative deals with Netflix, Spotify, and companies that focus on mental health or push for the advancement of society.
Meghan Markle and her spouse have also amassed a fortune via paid speaking engagements.
The new way of life of Prince Harry and Markle might cause Prince George, (the first-born son of Prince William and Kate Middleton who is second in line to the throne), to think long and hard as he embarks on his journey to becoming king of England, according to an activist who is calling for the end of the monarchy.
Graham Smith, CEO of Republic, a group, which is hoping that Elizabeth II will be the last Queen of England, has revealed that the renegade royals’ decision might impact Prince George’s decision.
Prince George might look at Prince William’s decision to dedicate his entire life to the throne and reject that concept.
The expert claimed that when the heir to the throne is old enough to decide, he might be inspired by his aunt and uncle’s renegade way of doing things.
Smith says he might pick the path to freedom and enjoyment instead of a life of service.
He revealed in his interview with Express: “He has to play the role of future king for his entire life, probably until what everyone else would consider retirement age. That’s not a particularly exciting prospect for a young man. I think he will be very torn about what he wants to do. This is the other problem with Harry living in California.”
He concluded by: “Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex being able to do whatever they want, and mixing with movie stars, offers a glimpse of a freedom that the Royal Family don’t necessarily have. I think that George will certainly look at that and go, well, that looks like more fun, and maybe I’ll do that instead.”
Time will tell if the young prince will take that route.
