After spending a good half of 2021 running around and conducting interviews to drop bombshells about their lives and the British royal family, it seems that the power couple has taken almost a vow of silence.
The last time Markle spoke to the media was in the early fall of last year, and to everyone’s surprise, she said nothing about the famous royal clan.
Instead, the aspiring politician focused on issues that mattered to American voters. As for Prince Harry, he has been relatively quiet most of 2022.
The former soldier broke his silence recently to praise his late mother, Princess Diana, and keep the spotlight on her legacy.
Prince Harry and Markle’s decision to say little and stay under the radar this year implies that they have not commented on one of Queen Elizabeth II‘s biggest announcements in the past decade.
To mark her 70th year on the British throne, Queen Elizabeth made waves by revealing that she wants her daughter-in-law, Camilla Parker Bowles, to have the title of Queen when Prince Charles ascends the throne.
Many royal family members were quick to react to the news that left many British citizens fuming because they do not back the idea that Bowles deserves the title.
Polls showed that the Queen is going against the nation by making the announcement that read: “When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me. And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
Sitting comfortably in their California mansion, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex declined thus far to comment on the matter publicly.
A royal expert and biographer explained that the Sussexes’ silence is remarkable and an insult to the Queen’s decision and message.
Tom Bower, who is currently writing a biography on Meghan Markle, revealed that their lack of comments on the matter might confirm the reports/rumors that they never liked Bowles.
He claimed that the Sussexes’ decision to stay mum has been deafening and added: “Their insult was surely deliberate. It has been said by a number of people that Harry has always disliked Camilla and blamed her for wrecking his parents’ marriage. Perhaps the Sussexes’ deafening silence is Meghan’s way of declaring war. It is believed that she has never liked Camilla, and I am sure the feelings are reciprocated.”
Other royal experts applauded Prince Harry because they assumed that he has decided not to share his thoughts out of respect for the royal family and the aging Queen.

People think he’s keeping a low profile to respect the family, but it’s not that. He’s writing a book. He’s got a multi-million-pound book deal, and he’s keeping a lot of his opinions for that. The memoir deal states that it should include personal details of personal and family arrangements.”
The friend concluded by: “And it will be a really intimate take on his feelings about his family and what has gone in the breakdown of the relationship.”
