Prince Harry made an “unfortunate remark” that went down “like a lead balloon” with Meghan Markle‘s family.
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have been swimming in marital bliss since their extraordinary wedding in 2018.
The pair said “I do” in front of the British royal family and millions of viewers worldwide.
They later welcomed a son, Archie, and rattled the monarchy to its core by stepping down from their royal duties and moving to California to be activists, have a foot in the political world, and be financially independent.
However, the powerful duo is often publicly criticized by several of Meghan Markle’s family members for their every move and word.
The Duchess of Sussex‘s father, Thomas Markle Sr, has taken things to the extreme by launching a YouTube channel where he openly slams his daughter and belittles Prince Harry.
On the most recent episode of his show, he made these harsh comments about Markle and his son-in-law for opting not to be by Queen Elizabeth‘s side during the memorial service for her late husband.
He claimed that Prince Harry and Markle’s decision not to attend was a slap at Queen Elizabeth and added: “Attending and giving respect and God’s grace to Prince Philip for a lifetime of service was very important to the Queen, and for them to not show up is like a slap in the face to the Queen and unforgivable.”
He went on to say: “He [Harry] didn’t attend the memorial. Instead, he felt it was more important to walk his dogs on the beach. Meghan, I guess, convinced him not to go, or someone convinced him not to go, but it was a stupid mistake, and he should be ashamed of himself.”
He concluded by: “And he should be ashamed to ever go back to England again. But then again, I’m prejudiced against him, so that’s how I feel. If they didn’t have this multi-million dollar public relations team, everyone would hate them.”
To say that Prince Harry and his father-in-law started on the wrong foot would be an understatement.
One of the first missteps with Markle’s blood relatives is a comment that he made while they were engaged to be married.
Shortly after Prince Harry popped the question, Meghan Markle made history by becoming the first royal fiancée to spend Christmas with Queen Elizabeth II.
Not even Kate Middleton was given that honor despite dating Prince William for almost a decade.
After spending the year-end holidays with the royal family, Prince Harry was eager to share what took place within the Palace walls with the world.
Appearing on a British radio station, Prince Harry’s enthusiasm led him to make a regrettable blunder that must have angered his then-future father-in-law.
In the new documentary, royal expert Jennie Bond claims one of Prince Harry’s unforgettable comments went down “like a lead balloon” with the Markle family.
The royal journalist and broadcaster, who was featured in the 2022 Channel 5 documentary Harry and Meghan Vs. The Monarchy, revealed: “Harry was guest editing the Today program on Radio 4 shortly afterwards, and he said he’d had a lot of fun at Christmas. And then he made a rather unfortunate remark, he said: ‘I suppose it’s the family she never had,’ meaning Meghan. Well, that went down like a lead balloon with the Markle family, obviously. And it’s a remark they’ve never forgotten.”
The former actress’ father did not attend her royal wedding to Prince Harry after a bizarre scandal involving the paparazzi and health issues.
Markle Sr has slammed his daughter and husband for not allowing him to see his grandchildren — Archie and Lilibet Diana.
He Has also threatened to sue them on multiple occasions.
