Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, surprised many by flying to England this week.
However, it appears that Prince Harry’s stepmother, Camilla Parker Bowles, had a surprise of her own.
It was Meghan Markle’s first trip to London since her spectacular exit from her royal duties in early 2020.
The powerful couple returned to the country amid a royal rift and security issues. Prince Harry and the former American actress had a secret meeting with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle.
It has been revealed that the trio had warm and casual conversations about Markle and Prince Harry’s two young children — Archie and Lilibet Diana — and their possible return for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
Several media outlets have claimed that the Queen requested that Prince Harry meets with his father, Prince Charles, before having an audience with her.
However, a source close to the Sussex couple claimed that Prince Harry is the one who initiated the contact with Prince Charles to clear the air.
The friend told The Sun: “Harry contacted his father and said he was coming over with Meghan and he wanted to meet. Harry instigated it all. It was an olive branch from Harry and made in an effort to clear the air. He made the approach to Charles, who was obviously very happy, and accepted. Charles maintains that Harry is a much-loved son and is always welcome to come back and visit.”
The insider went on to say: “The Queen agreed to see them both but only after he had met Charles first. They were traveling to Holland for the Invictus Games, which is only round the corner.”
According to the source, Prince Charles is eager to repair his troubled relationship with his son and finally get the opportunity to be with his grandchildren.
The insider stated: “Charles wants to heal things with his son and his daughter-in-law and ultimately wants to meet his grandchildren. As the Queen said when Megxit was signed, they will always be a much-loved part of the family.”
The source concluded by: “By seeing the Queen before they arrived in Holland for a high-profile visit, they managed to diminish any idea they were snubbing her. Charles was happy to have them.”
The same Palace insiders revealed that Camilla Parker Bowles seems to have made a bold power move by being present.
Many were surprised by Bowles’s decision to attend the tête-à-tête between the father and the son, who appear to be mending the great divide between them since “Megxit.”
Camilla Parker Bowles’s move could also be interpreted as an olive branch to her stepson, who is writing a tell-all book that is due out later this year.
Many sources close to Prince Hary have indicated that he will celebrate his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and will focus his attention on his disastrous relationship with Bowles.
Royal sources close to Prince Charles said that he fears that Prince Harry will humiliate Bowles by digging up old scandals and exposing private family battles in the book.
Prince Harry and Markle have since left the UK and have made a spectacular entrance at the 2022 Invictus Games in Holland, where they greeted the heroic athletes, met some babies, and were showered with love by the Dutch people.
