On their return to California, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s names were back on top of the headlines over a significant decision taken by Queen Elizabeth.
To everyone’s surprise, Buckingham Palace announced that the inquiry or investigation into Meghan Markle’s alleged bullying of staffers was an opened and permanently shut case.
Her Majesty‘s people said that while some policies will be changed and the new rules will be implemented, the investigation findings will never be released to the public.
Sources from inside the Palace said that the high-ranking royals decided to bury the report to protect Markle and the staff’s privacy.
At least two staff members alleged that the former American actress bullied them into quitting their posts when she was a working member of the British royals.
According to the Sunday Times of London, Queen Elizabeth made the call to keep the findings a secret not to create further drama with Prince Harry and Markle.
The unprecedented investigation, privately funded by Queen Elizabeth, was announced in March 2021 — just days before Markle and Prince Harry sat down for their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Chief royal correspondent Jack Royston weighed in on the manner that Her Majesty handled the inquiry to avoid chaos: “I think the Palace would say that it was never actually an investigation. Everybody in the media called it an investigation, but they can’t investigate Meghan. You cannot instigate an HR disciplinary process against a royal, and it’s just not a thing, they’re not employees of the institution. So this was a review of what happened to see what the outcome was.”
The expert added: “I think that if you knew all the facts, it would largely be defined by ‘moral chaos. When you have a situation in a company or an institution where there’s a toxic culture that developed, you get things being done on all sides by everybody because it’s a product of the toxic culture. I think this is partly why the Palace wants to keep it quiet.”
It is not certain that the Queen has been able to defuse the potential scandal that the report could have created.
Days after the story surfaced, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared to give the world a sign of what is to come.
Over the weekend, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex were photographed as they drove five minutes from their mansion to Oprah’s massive Montecito estate.
Photos that surfaced via the Daily Mail showed Markle and Prince Harry were accompanied by her friend, Janina Gavankar, and significant security detail in another Range Rover.
Markle and Prince Harry chatted with Oprah for over an hour. The British media outlets believe that there might be another headline-making interview in the works ahead of Prince Harry’s multi-million tell-all book.
The visit has sparked a frenzy in the royal circles because they believe that Markle and Prince Harry will share details about the Queen’s Jubilee and much more.
However, there is a possibility that the royal renegades will sit down for a cheerful piece about the Queen.
