The investigation into the allegations that Meghan Markle bullied several of her staff has wrapped up.
Queen Elizabeth II, who requested the investigation over a year ago, has decided not to release the findings to the public. The move has caused a heavy backlash.
Many have slammed the Queen for the lack of transparency into the disturbing allegations that Markle bullied palace aides.
However, multiple royal insiders have claimed that she had a worthy reason to put an end to the drama.
Sources close to the 96-year-old Queen have revealed why she decided to bury the report — she is fed up with the drama around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and has decided it is time for it to stop.
A palace insider spoke to Vanity Fair‘s Katie Nicholl to say that Her Majesty had enough of the monarchy’s dirty laundry be aired and deemed it was time to protect the image and dignity of the institution.
The famed author stated: “The queen feels there has been enough drama around the Sussexes, and she wants a line to be drawn.”
The decision not to publicize the much-anticipated result of a probe is seen as an “olive branch” to the Sussexes, according to royal commentator and author Richard Fitzwilliams.
He said Buckingham Palace made the first and wise move of reaching out to Prince Harry ahead of his upcoming memoir, which could create chaos around the British royals.
In a way, Her Majesty is telling Markle and Prince Harry to focus on their philanthropies and charities instead of instigating more scandals by dropping so-called truth bombs.
He stated: “The Palace, faced with the possibility of a memoir by Harry later this year and who knows what else if the Sussexes, as budding philanthropists, were antagonized, has simply closed it down. This is obviously an olive branch to the Sussexes too.”
Killing the probe comes at a hefty price for her Majesty, whose reputation has taken a hit.
According to the Daily Mail, during the investigation, “broken royal aides testified of feeling humiliated, sick, terrified, left shaking with fear, and being reduced to tears. Meghan was accused of having inflicted emotional cruelty on her staff and drove them out. One branded the Sussexes outrageous bullies.”
The Queen’s decision to keep the results a secret has caused great anguish and pain to the aides who claimed they were humiliated and bullied by Markle.
One source said to the Daily Mail: “People suspected it would be buried, and now it seems that it has. Considering those who participated did so at great personal and reputational risk to themselves, the fact that they haven’t even been told what the findings are is unfathomable.”
The person added: “I am sure they will be deeply distressed but perhaps not entirely surprised given how things have been handled. The household seems to be terrified of upsetting or provoking Harry and Meghan.”
Another defeated insider confessed: “What was the point?.”
The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry have responded to the decision by saying that they are disappointed.
In 2021, lawyers for the Sussexes denied the allegations, and Markle told Oprah Winfrey that the royal family was “perpetuating falsehoods” about her and Prince Harry.
