It is well documented that Prince Harry and Prince William have a complex relationship with their stepmother, Camilla Parker Bowles.
The romance between Bowles and Prince Charles started very scandalously — he reportedly cheated on his then-wife, Princess Diana, with Bowles.
It has been claimed that while Prince Harry chose to be sociable with Bowles, he always blamed her for the end of his parents’ marriage.
The lack of love between Prince Harry and Prince Charles’s wife was in the spotlight when Queen Elizabeth II made the surprising announcement that she wanted Bowles to become Queen when her son takes over the Monarchy.
While Prince William swallowed his pride and did the respectable thing by sharing a statement congratulating Bowles on the great honor, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have yet to say or write a word on the matter.
This week, the Duchess of Cornwall has found herself in a racist scandal involving Prince Harry and Markle.
According to the upcoming book by journalist Tom Bower, Bowles thought it would be funny to make a joke about Prince Harry and Markle’s unborn child.
In the bombshell book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors, it is revealed that in 2016, Bowles had a conversation with Prince Harry and other members of the royal family about his then-girlfriend, Markle.
During the discussions, the royal family said Markle should continue with her career as an actress, and they would not pay for her security.
Bowles, who is famous for her sense of humor, took the opportunity to talk about Prince Harry and Markle’s mixed-race children.
According to the book: “During those weeks, Harry met Charles and Camilla at Clarence House. In Harry’s version, the conversation alternated between serious and joking and touched on three topics.”
Bower added: “First, Harry was told that Meghan should continue with her acting career. Second, Scotland Yard could not automatically be expected to pay for his girlfriend’s 24-hour protection. And third, according to Harry, someone speculated about what his future child would ‘look like. Camilla remarked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if your child had ginger Afro hair?'”
Markle made sure that Prince Harry regretted his decision to laugh at the comment. The author shared: “Harry allegedly laughed at the comment, but subsequently, Meghan’s reaction to that conversation turned Harry’s amusement into fury.”
The comments deemed racist have gone viral, and while Bowles has not directly responded to them, an insider close to her did. Sources close to the future Queen hit back at the claims as “nonsense.”
It will be interesting to see if Prince Harry will address the controversies from Bower’s book in his own memoir.
