It has been confirmed that Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, will hold the 2nd annual Earthshot Prize ceremony. The event will take place in December in Boston, Massachusetts.
In a video on their official social media accounts, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that the event is moving to America this time around.
The clip opens with the heir to the throne sharing the happy news by saying: “In 2022, we’re back and bringing Earthshot to the USA, where we’ll award the next five winners of the prize.”
The camera quickly moved to Red Sox player Xander Bogaerts, on the pitch at Fenway Park, who told the watchers: “And we will be doing it right here in Boston.”
Prince William put the event together to highlight and award five winners each year for their contributions to environmentalism.
The trip has led to many rumors and speculations because it will be the first time that Kate Middleton and her spouse will be in America in 8 years.
It also has many wondering will the impossible happen — will a reunion and possible reconciliation between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince William and Kate Middleton take place?
Many royal experts pointed to Queen Elizabeth II‘s health issues and advanced age as a reason for the former “Fab Four” to get together for a cause that is dear to their hearts — climate change.
Moreover, hopes for a reunion continue to rise as royal fans wish for reconciliation with the much-loved brothers, especially in the wake of the Queen’s ailing health.
Author and royal pundit Natalie Oliveri weighed in on the possible reunion by saying: “…with Prince Harry and Meghan living in Montecito, in California, with their two children Archie and Lilibet, it would be the optimum time to finally lay down their guns and repair the rift.”
She added: “There’s no better place to put an end to this family feud than in the US, where both couples are incredibly popular.”
However, almost immediately, the chatter of the Cambridges and the Sussexes finally meeting was dashed because of a scandal/drama involving Prince William and Kate Middleton and the rest of the royal family.
There is a possibility that Prince William and his wife will not travel to the United States for the event. Instead, they will appear virtually because they are getting heavy backlash because of their spending habits.
The Palace confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge‘s flights for their controversial Caribbean tour cost the British taxpayer more than £226,000 or over $271,000.
Official documents from the royal accounts have revealed that for the years 20221 and 2022, the royal family spent the massive amount of £4.5 million ($5.4 million) on travel — the trips were funded by the taxpayer through the Sovereign Grant.
That same report confirmed that Prince Harry and Markle have been financially independent since 2020 and are making millions via multiple endeavors.
Many Britons and royal experts jumped on social media to slam the royals for the extraordinary bill and blasted them for living lavishly while millions suffered due to the economy.
Royal correspondent Richard Palmer said that because of the criticism, Prince Wiliam and his spouse might skip the trip and added: “The Earthshot Prize award ceremony will be in Boston, Massachusetts in December this year. It’s been widely reported, particularly in the US, that William and Kate are going to Boston.”
He went on to say: “That wasn’t actually announced, it’s not been confirmed, but the understanding is it’s pretty likely both of them will go. There’s always been this possibility that they might make a statement about flying and do it all virtually.”
Some observers believe that Prince William will still come to Boston despite the controversy
