The case of who made who cried ahead of Meghan Markle‘s wedding has been resolved for now, and Prince William is said to be thrilled that his wife’s name was cleared.
There have been multiple conflicting versions of the fight between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton that took place in 2018.
Ahead of her big royal wedding to Prince Harry, the ladies got into a heated conversation about the bridesmaids’ dresses and tights.
While Markle told Oprah Winfrey that she cried because of the exchange with Kate Middleton, in the new book, Revenge, by investigative journalist Tom Bower, it was revealed that the opposite happened.
The author explained that Kate Middleton “burst into tears” after Markle compared Princess Charlotte “unfavorably to her best friend, Jessica Mulroney‘s daughter,” Isabel, during a dress fitting.
Middleton wanted the little girls to wear tights, and Markle disagreed. Bower revealed that during the preparations for the wedding to Prince Harry, Markle and her sister-in-law did not see eye to eye.
Markle’s then-friend, Mulroney, supported her while she butted heads with Middleton. A royal expert has revealed that Prince William is happy that the truth or truer version has been revealed and his wife’s name has been swiped clean thanks to the book.
Neil Sean, a royal commentator, said that the heir to the throne is grateful for the long-awaited rectification.
The pundit claimed: “Prince William is truly grateful, according to a very good source, that the rectification of this story has now come to light. [The members of the royal family] always knew the true version of events, but the British monarchy [doesn’t] come out and explain or complain.”
He added: “Prince William will be very, very relieved that at least the true version of events has come out. It doesn’t bode well because many people could say, ‘Well, it’s a case of he said, she said,’ but there were too many people that backed up the original story, including TV personality Kirstie Allsopp, who also said to the media that she knew the true version of events.”
In her 2021 interview with Oprah, Markle shared her version of the story. She said that Middletown caused a minor row and later apologized with flowers.
Markle claimed that the Monarchy opted to cover up the story and added: “The reverse happened. Everyone in the institution knew it wasn’t true.”
She continued: “It was over flower girl dresses. It made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings. There wasn’t a confrontation. I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details because she apologized, and I’ve forgiven her. It was a really hard week of the wedding, and she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note, apologizing.”
Author Tina Brown, the royal author of The Palace Papers, previously claimed Prince William felt “utterly disgusted” by Meghan Markle’s confession about Kate Middleton. She added: “It was such a shame.”
Endless revelations such as this one might explain why Prince Harry and Prince William will not end their royal feud anytime soon.
