King Charles III had some major plans for the summer. However, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have already made it known that His Majesty will not have his cake and eat it too.
Relational royal insiders have revealed that King Charles will invite Prince Harry, Markle, and their young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to Scotland for the summer break.
His Majesty, who is battling a serious illness, has decided to reunite the entire Royal Family at the Balmoral Castle.
King Charles has made it abundantly clear in the past few weeks, through his public statements and private conversations, that he is eager to spend time with his two American-British grandchildren, whom he seldom sees.
A royal source told The Mirror that King Charles is tired of seeing Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet only through occasional Facetime calls, and he longs for more personal interactions with them.
A source said: “The King is absolutely committed to being present in all of his grandchildren’s lives. He values Family above everything and whatever the course of his relationship with his son he would never be content with just seeing his grandchildren on the odd video call.”
Royal author and expert Ingrid Seward weighed in on the situation: “Family has always been important to the King. He remembers his own somewhat fragmented childhood as his parents were always busy doing their duty. It is a great sadness to him he doesn’t see more of Archie and Lilibet. That is why he will never break ties with Harry. He does not want a FaceTime relationship with his son’s children. He wants to know them and be involved with their lives while they are still young enough to learn from his wisdom. His cancer has made it all the more poignant to him as he knows that he won’t be around forever.”
However, the pals of Prince Harry and Markle have made it clear that they will not leave California this summer; therefore, King Charles will not see Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
A friend of the couple confirmed to Vanity Fair: “But according to friends of the Sussexes, Harry and Meghan do not plan to come to the U.K. during the summer. They are very settled and happy in Montecito, where they plan to spend most of the summer. It’s the quiet life Harry has always wanted, and he is actually very happy.”
Prince Harry will have to make a big move for reconciliation to happen.
