In 2005, King Charles III married for the second time. After the bitter and overly public divorce from his first wife, Princess Diana, King Charles and Camilla Bowles Parker said their “I-dos.”

Camilla Bowles Parker and then-Prince Charles forged on with their union despite the countless chatters and cheating scandals, which the Royal Family vehemently denied and disproved.

King Charles had a master plan: to make his wife the beloved woman she is today and earn the title of Queen.

His Majesty was eager to watch his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, find loving wives who could handle the burden of the monarchy.

He also looked forward to seeing his many grandchildren grow up in front of his eyes. However, life had a different plan in store.

The heir to the throne resides in England with his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.

King Charles, battling cancer, has made time to build relationships with the Waleses children. However, King Charles has no contact with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Even Prince Harry will admit, in a painful way, that his decision to leave his royal duties, monarchy, and family behind is like a brutal divorce for His Majesty.

The emotional toll of this separation is much like to the dissolution of a marriage, leaving King Charles feeling deeply hurt.

Insiders near Prince Harry spoke to PEOPLE Magazine to say that King Charles feels history is repeating itself. He feels like he lost his son, who has become the center of media attention with the bombshell interviews, making his job as monarch more complicated.

The publication shared: “Sources close to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have established a new life in Montecito, California, say the palace is mindful of what happened when Princess Diana left royal life — and instantly eclipsed the institution. “Charles‘s fear is a repeat of the past,” the insider says. “When his wife divorced the institution, she took the headlines, overshadowed his work, and became a global superstar. Seeing his son leave with his wife was not part of the plan.”

Prince Harry has made it clear that he will not return to the UK if King Charles does not intervene and give him the proper security he needs.

The so-called divorce might seem final because His Majesty revealed that he does not have the power to give his son what he wants.
