Kate Middleton has had a highly complex year battling multiple health issues, and she has come out victorious, ready to work hard and represent the monarchy and have some fun while at it.
This week, Princess Kate, during a joint event with her husband, Prince William, decided to join in the silly season started by Meghan Markle.
At times, the Royal Family engages in playful banter, exchanging humorous jabs and unexpected digs, adding a touch of amusement to their otherwise serious roles.
However, other times, the feud takes the shape of laughable barbs and unexpected digs. These are often witty and humorous comments exchanged between the royals.
While seemingly serious, Meghan Markle’s “war of jams” with King Charles III is a light-hearted drama.
This “war of jams” is a playful competition between Markle and King Charles, in which they produce and sell their own jam products.
Last year, the former actress launched a lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard, which was later changed to As Ever.
Markle has decided the brand will sell homemade strawberry jam. King Charles, who has been selling royal strawberry jams, marmalade, and preserves for years, mocked Markle in an ad.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, decided King Charles and Markle could not be the only ones having fun with this jammy debacle.
During her visit to a community garden in Wales, Princess Kate playfully teased Meghan Markle by offering her renowned jam recipe to a group of volunteers for free, adding a touch of friendly competition to the “jammy debacle.”
The Daily Mail revealed: “The Princess of Wales has promised to send her recipe for plum jam to young gardeners. The Princess heard how young volunteers at a community garden in Wales were growing plums, turning them into jam, and promised them, “I’ll send you my recipe so you can try it.”
The Duchess of Sussex, her sister-in-law, is producing her own jam range to sell. Last week, she relaunched her brand under “As Ever.”
In an Instagram video, the Duchess said, “Of course there will be fruit preserves; I think we’re all clear at this point that jam is my jam.”
Prince William did not skip a beat and rapidly interjected that his wife made the best and most fantastic jam in the world.
One royal expert claimed that Princess Kate’s move to join the joke clarified that she was on to Markle.
Royal commentator Charles Rae told GB News: “She knows exactly what she’s doing here, especially as she makes her own plum jam. And she’s now giving that recipe for free to a well-wisher. I suspect that Kensington Palace will get flooded with requests for that recipe. Now, contrastingly, you’ve got Meghan, who’s now producing some jam. I think it’s a strawberry jam. And that is going to cost you £25 ($31) to £30 (37) a pop. That is four times more than a pot of jam that you could buy at the Highgrove Royal shop. That’s Prince Charles’s estate. So he’s selling jam as well. We’ve got jam wars going on.”
It will be interesting to see what Markle will do next.
