Meghan Markle was overjoyed when she received some wonderful news, which led to a celebratory post on her official Instagram page, but her victory lap was all short-lived.
This week, the Duchess of Sussex was delighted to finally air her highly anticipated cookery and lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan.
The show, With Love, Meghan, was a delightful mix of eight episodes, celebrity guests, and a lot of baking, chatting, and decorating.
Just two days after the show was broadcast, the exciting news was confirmed — With Love, Meghan has been renewed for a second season. The hope and anticipation for more delightful episodes were high.
Not only has the cookery show been picked up for another season, Markle and her crew have already filmed the new episodes.
According to PEOPLE Magazine: “Meghan Markle’s lifestyle show is getting another season on Netflix. With Love, Meghan will have a second season, which has already been filmed, hitting the streaming service this fall. Michael Steed is back as director for the second season, as the Duchess of Sussex‘s show debuts at #6 on Netflix’s U.S. Top 10.”
Markle celebrated the news with a message that read: “Oh, how I love ASMR! If you’re loving Season 1, wait until you see the fun we cooked up in Season 2! Thanks for joining the party, and an endless thanks to the amazing team and crew who helped bring it all to life!”
However, Markle was rapidly pulled from cloud nine with startling news about her future at Netflix.
A source told the Daily Mail that Netflix is concerned about Markle’s unsolidified and fragile success.
While the show generated numerous headlines and became a worldwide conversation topic, the bosses at the streaming giant are not satisfied with the raw numbers of viewers it brought in.
The source said it was not a recipe for success and added: “It’s not a runaway success.”
The show has not been able to remove Markle from Netflix’s purgatory, meaning Netflix has not yet decided to renew her multi-million dollar contract.
The source revealed: “A new season does not mean her Netflix contract has been renewed.”
According to the person in the know: “I know they filmed the shows back-to-back, so in theory, there is no second season. It’s like with lots of Netflix shows: it is already in the bag at the same time as the first one. This allows edits to be made to the show based on feedback from the press and Netflix viewers. It’s clever and cost-effective. So no, the overall contract hasn’t been renewed yet.”
Some at Netflix still fear the scandal and backlash that often follow Prince Harry and Markle. Additionally, the reviews were not significant.
The source added: “That bosses were worried about the poor reviews—especially as they are business partners in her lifestyle brand, which will launch in their bricks-and-mortar stores in the coming months. The industry bibles like The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are not keen on it. Netflix’s bosses are worried because they have invested a lot in the product line. They don’t know when and how to roll it all out.”
Markle was hoping this was the project that took her to another level.
She should of stayed on the boats at least that way she would still be getting paid to live the life style that she so craves for and she could of still be mix̌in̈g with royalty even if it my of been Andrew cus they both mixed in the same circles
