Meghan Markle, in a surprising development, shared rare glimpses of her children with her viewers and followers on social media.
The former actress and her husband, Prince Harry, are the parents of Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
The power couple, who have often spoken about the dangers and heavy scrutiny of social media, have taken strict measures to protect their children’s privacy.
The young brother and sister have never appeared publicly, and when their photos are shared, they are only pictured from the back.
However, despite Markle’s precautions, such as only sharing photos and videos from certain angles and avoiding revealing details about their location, Prince Harry is very much against public exposure for their children.
Prince Harry’s traumatic relationship with the media stems from his upbringing, which was vastly different from Markle’s. This contrast in their early experiences has led to a divergence in their views on their children’s privacy.
A source close to the couple hinted that there is a divide in the household after Markle posted photos and videos of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet on her official Instagram account to promote her As Ever brand and her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
According to Matt Wilkinson, a royal editor at The Sun, Prince Harry is not interested in having his children seen, but Meghan Markle has other beliefs. Via the New York Times, Markle made it clear she stated that she wants her children to connect with her “home life and her work.”
The royal journalist revealed during an appearance on A Right Royal Podcast: “My understanding of this is that, up to a certain stage, Harry would much rather his children were not seen. Whereas Meghan grew up in California, she once said she would like to have a more California-style lifestyle: take them down the beach, go out, do stuff. She doesn’t want to hide them away. I think Harry’s living in [like things are] the way they were when he was a child […] the media landscape has shifted.”
According to the author, Prince Harry is in no rush to remove Archie and Lilibet from their home because he imagines a nightmare scenario in which the paparazzi are always lurking around and eager to invade his family’s privacy, as they have done.
The writer shared: “He doesn’t want them to be [photographed]. He’s got this idea that if he takes them outside Montecito, there is a hoard of us out there trying to take photos of his kids.”
On the other hand, the journalist believes that Markle wants her children to be free so they can experience and enjoy their childhood to the fullest.
The Duke of Sussex is is indirectly siding with King Charles III and Prince William on this issue because for The Monarch using titles and the children to succeed in business is the wrong strategy.
