Prince William and other members of the Royal Family were so skeptical of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s efforts at reconciliation that they decided to live their lives as if the gesture had never occurred.
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, took two steps forward towards a détente and twenty steps back.
Just a few weeks ago, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made public and concrete moves towards a rapprochement with King Charles III and other relatives.
The Sussex couple instructed their staff to meet with King Charles’s aides to open a dialogue about how they could heal as a family and eventually start talking again.
Days later, Prince Harry made another giant leap by sharing his diary with King Charles and Prince William. Indeed, staff members at Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace would have full access to Prince Harry’s itinerary to avoid scheduling major events on the same date.
Many applauded Prince Harry for sharing his calendar as a sign of progress in the right direction. Some royalists saw his move as a way to build trust with his skeptical relatives.
However, some of Prince Harry’s backers also warned that King Charles and Prince William would misuse the information.
Some backers believed that the royals would steal Prince Harry’s thunder if they knew ahead of time his whereabouts. A few told Prince Harry he was capitulating to his brother and father with the decision to share his schedule.
Well, a royal insider has revealed to the Daily Mail that Prince Harry and capitulation will never be in the same sentence because he is determined never to let the Palace control him.
A Sussex source explained to the Mail On Sunday: “Although Harry was offering an olive branch, it does not mean he would be open to fully working with Buckingham Palace. Harry still doesn’t like being controlled by the Royal machinery, and that won’t change. However, if the Royal Family has full sight of his movements, they can at least plan accordingly. It’s a significant gesture.”
It is believed that King Charles and the heir will not be surprised that Prince Harry has a foot in and a foot out. They, too, are skeptical about the reconciliation.
Royal commentator Samara Gill spoke to Sky News Australia and said: “I don’t blame the King, I mean, that’s a nice way of putting it for the hell that that man has been put through by Harry and Meghan. I can only imagine why – I mean, this comes on the week Netflix has canceled their massive hundred-million-dollar deal.”
The situation is indeed complex and painful, and therefore will take some time.
