Meghan Markle had a blink-and-you-missed-it birthday moment on August 4th that still managed to grab headlines. The former actress-turned-businesswoman and Prince Harry appeared to have celebrated her 44th birthday this month in a low-key manner.
The couple declined to share any jaw-dropping videos of themselves dancing or twerking on Instagram, and their decision not to provide updates on social media led to considerable public speculation.
Questions arose about the celebration: What kind of party did Prince Harry throw for Markle? Did Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet shower their mom with homemade gifts? Did Markle bake her own cake using one of her famous recipes?
BBC reporter Jennie Bond shared her thoughts on how Prince Harry and his family may have feted Markle on her big day.
She said: “I definitely thought that being 44 was a bit of a nondescript birthday, not particularly worthy of a special celebration. But I’m sure that Harry will want to make a fuss of his wife on her special day.”
Bond explained that Prince Harry, as a man in love, likely opted for romantic and family-oriented moments with his wife. She stated: “As far as I can see, he is still head over heels in love with Meghan and will probably organize a romantic dinner or perhaps a beach party with friends and lots of children to celebrate their happy family life in California. Maybe a sunrise yoga session would set the day up rather nicely!”
The way Markle’s birthday was marked this August served as a telling sign of where she and Prince Harry stand with the Royal Family at this point in time.
Just a few weeks ago, it was confirmed that Prince Harry had made significant inroads with King Charles III, thanks to a meeting arranged by their staff to facilitate a grand détente between the two parties.
Prince Harry also aligned his schedule with that of Kensington and Buckingham Palaces to avoid overshadowing his relatives, a step toward reconciliation with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
It was predicted at that time that Prince Harry’s actions would smooth the path for the royals to acknowledge Markle on her birthday.
No royal member publicly acknowledged or contacted Markle on her birthday. It appears that Markle remains persona non grata among her royal relatives.
Bond claimed: “I don’t think Meghan should hold her breath for birthday messages from the Royal family, though it may well be that Princess Eugenie – and possibly Beatrice— will send a present or a card.”
And Bond added: “I think Meghan deserves to be pretty happy with how this year has gone so far. Whatever she does or says gets slammed in the media, but she has built up a substantial social media following in very little time, the products that she endorses or sells seem to do exceptionally well, and her TV and podcast shows — although clearly not ground breaking – – are perfectly watchable, however much her critics like to pan them.”
Markle can still count on the support of her numerous followers.
