Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, are not in agreement with a very talkative friends. With a friend like this stoking the royal drama and backlash, who needs detractors and foes?
This month, Meghan Markle was delighted to announce that the rumors were completely wrong — Netflix is renewing its multi-million dollar contract.
While the deal will take a different shape, as a first-look contract, it remains a massive and lucrative collaboration with the world’s largest streaming giant.
Along with the statement about the new deal, Markle delighted fans by sharing that the second season of her cookery show, With Love, Meghan, will air later this month.
Moreover, Markle will be blessing the holidays with a Christmas special. Markle’s joyful and lengthy statement about the major career development would have sufficed.
However, a friend of Prince Harry decided to give an interview, which muddied the waters for the Sussex couple. They already have many problems with the British people because they stepped down from their royal duties and attacked the royals and the monarchy in interviews and in Spare.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Alex Rayner, who traveled with Prince Harry and attended the same university as him, shocked many by explaining why British people are reluctant to watch Meghan Markle’s cookery show.
Rayner chose some unflattering and unkind vocabulary to make his point. He said: “I’d argue it’s made for the American market, maybe a little bit more than for us.”
He added: “We’re a little bit more cynical. For us, we’re about old Mrs Miggins over the Aga doing her marmalade. Whereas, in America, they’re a little bit more classy about it. They want a bit more.”
He also said: “I think she gets a really tough rap about it. What she tries to do with her food at As Ever is absolutely fantastic. Both Harry and his father are passionate about sustainable, field-to-fork methods. And that’s very much what Meghan’s all about as well, but people pillory her. There’s an enormous level of support and an appetite to see what Harry and Meghan get up to, as with any member of the Royal Family.”
Needless to say, the interview, deemed patronizing, caused an uproar in the UK and brought many angry feelings about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle back to the surface.
A comment on social media read: “Alex Rayner’s interview is absurdly condescending. We do not need a foreign-born actress to teach us about classy food. Her and Harry’s attacks on the monarchy were a deliberate act of betrayal.”
This frustrated royalist claimed: “We refuse to support them financially, not because of a lack of sophistication, but because we will not reward people who lie for profit and treat the Crown with such disdain.”
An angry backer of the Royal Family stated: “The fact that Alex Rayner thinks we are “cynical” shows how out of touch he is. We are simply tired of their hypocrisy. Their behavior, from their deceitful interviews to their attacks on the monarchy, is unacceptable.”
In his California mansion, Prince Harry wishes his friends and acquaintances would follow his example and stop talking about the royals, the British people, and the monarchy.
Prince Harry wants his newfound silence to reassure King Charles III, with whom he is trying to make peace.
