Prince William’s Lack of Urgency
Prince William does not share King Charles III‘s urgency to forgive or meet his youngest brother, Prince Harry.
The cautious heir believes he must first observe Harry for some time to ensure he does not speak indiscreetly, sell royal secrets, or threaten the family. Only after this period would William consider forgiveness.
Before responding to Harry’s most recent request for a face-to-face meeting, Prince William needed reassurance he was not being used by Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, for promotional reasons or as a prop.
Having recently discovered that his brother could be “sneaky in that way,” William swiftly rejected the meeting request after considering these factors.
A source told The Mirror: “This onslaught of public jabs over the years has led to serious trust issues between the brothers, with a potential meeting between William and Harry in the coming weeks being rejected out of hand.”
A Deliberate Coincidence?
This month, Prince Harry is in London for the WellChild Awards. Before his arrival, he put out a formal request to see his brother. William categorically declined, finding it odd that this request coincided with the Sussexes’ new Netflix deal and the premiere of Meghan Markle’s show, With Love, Meghan.
A royal source told The Mirror: “William feels Harry has repeatedly chosen public exposure over private resolution and that the Royal Family can’t keep being dragged into the headlines every time there’s a new contract to promote.”
They added, “The issue with Harry, as well as Meghan, is one of trust. Ever since moving to North America, they have eroded all confidence in their ability to keep things or their criticisms private. For there to be any chance of moving forward, that trust has to be rebuilt, and Team Sussex knows the onus is on them.”
Prince William believes nothing is coincidence regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He hopes his father, King Charles, will consider these actions before deciding to meet his youngest son this month. If a meeting takes place, Prince William advises King Charles to be cautious with what he shares, given Harry’s need for media content for Netflix. Prince William reportedly often says: “Whatever Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do—coincidence? He believes not.”
The Prince of Wales might never move forward on this or Harry would have to be willing to try a completely different approach.
