Meghan Markle and her supportive husband, Prince Harry, might have popped the champagne or opened the fancy bottle of As Ever Rosé a little bit too soon to celebrate their recent perceived success. However, growing professional challenges and a public image crisis are now threatening their lucrative future.
Amid rising speculation about their Netflix contract and doubts about their careers, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s initial silence gave way to a public statement. By confirming a reduced Netflix deal and Meghan Markle’s second season of With Love, Meghan, they aimed to directly confront mounting criticism and shape their narrative.
The Flop Of With Love, Meghan
The second season of With Love, Meghan stayed true to its traditional themes of cooking, hosting, and modest guest lists. However, this time, it immediately drew harsh criticism for lacking originality and excitement. Despite efforts to stand out, the show dramatically failed to capture significant attention or achieve high viewership, with reports confirming it missed the coveted Netflix Top 10 list entirely.
The flop of the show has set tongues wagging inside Netflix offices. Highly placed staff members are openly speculating that Meghan Markle’s show will be canceled.
An insider source told Parade: “That people who work on the show don’t believe it will be picked up for another season. It’s not doing well or what the network would have hoped it would do. It’s not the success they wanted it to be.”
Eric Schiffer, chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, told Newsweek: “When a royal brand can’t crack the board, it’s likely an obituary for season 3. Even with Chrissy Teigen and Tan France glitter-bombing the set, the series hit the pavement. Given that it’s missed by a mile, where even hate watchers stayed home, Season 3 is unlikely.”
One source attributed the show’s poor performance to critics calling it “boring” and “contrived,” with its focus on luxury crafts and basic recipes lacking either A-list guests or the shock value that draws viewers. This setback now clouds Meghan’s future prospects.
The Future Of The Duchess
Where does Meghan go from here? If the show is canceled, many insist Meghan Markle possesses the limitless creativity and resilience to bounce back. Some believe she will use her influence to cook up a new, more engaging project for Netflix bosses. With Love will return for a holiday special in December and it gives Markle the opportunity to impress the streaming giant.
Eric Schiffer, added: “Can she turn it around? Of course. She’s one big creative idea away from making it interesting. They could go back and pitch Season 3 as something that would shock everyone and create a lot of buzz, but a ruthless read from a PR war room would be that the show’s cozy authenticity didn’t get traction, it failed badly. The lifestyle lane is unforgiving. Unless you either have some repeatable utility or can shock hardcore then viewers are going to ghost you like an ex. You’re competing with influencers and YouTube and minds that are willing to take those risks.”
Alternatively, others believe she will pivot entirely, focusing on business ventures such as As Ever, or that the door to acting is still open, allowing her to slip back in and rejuvenate her Hollywood career. In other words, many declare that, like a phoenix, Meghan Markle will rise again, much to the dismay of those who are awaiting her downfall.
Yet, there are concerns that ongoing setbacks could force Meghan Markle into writing a memoir about her time as a senior royal—an option she has resisted. Such a move could escalate tensions with the Royal Family, making the stakes even higher as Meghan and Harry navigate uncertain next steps for financial stability.
