The Duchess’s Grand Return To The Media Spotlight And The UK

Meghan Markle has a face for the small screen, which is why she has done multiple TV series, including a starring role in the legal drama Suits.

She also participated in the game show Deal or No Deal, where she was one of the “briefcase girls,” and she eventually landed her own Netflix series after being featured in multiple documentaries on the streaming giant.

Now, a question has arisen: What if Meghan Markle has a voice for radio? Recent developments suggest that the answer may be yes.

She has hosted two podcasts in the past: Archetypes, which was quite successful, and Tea with Meghan, which went under the radar.

Adding to this, Meghan Markle mentioned on a recent episode of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, that she missed UK radio—specifically Magic Radio.

A Bold Invitation

Earlier this week, Magic & Absolute Radio’s Content Director, Paul Sylvester, confirmed that he had started talks with Team Sussex following Meghan Markle’s recent mention of missing UK radio, specifically Magic Radio. These discussions aim to offer Meghan Markle her own show on his radio.

Sylvester stated that he reached out after hearing Meghan Markle, in a previous interview as a former working royal, express nostalgia for the UK’s radio stations. He explained this was the motivation for extending the offer, following her recent comments.

Speaking at Radiocentre’s Tuning In conference after initiating the offer, Sylvester said: “The offer is on the table: if the Duchess wants to host a show, she’s very welcome.”

Talking to the Telegraph, he added: “We had conversations with the Sussex team and if the Duchess would like to add radio presenter to her CV, there is an offer on the table.”

The Daily Mail reported: “The exact sum she was offered for the role was not disclosed, but is no doubt dwarfed by her other media contracts, which include a $100 million (£74million) five-year deal with Netflix and the less successful and rather short-lived deal with Spotify, which was said to be worth £15.5million ($21 million). Magic is owned by Bauer Media and focuses on music released from the 1980s onwards. It is one of the UK’s most popular radio networks, boasting 3.6 million weekly listeners.“

A Possible Royal Gambit

Prince Harry has expressed an interest in returning to the UK more frequently, which could provide an opportunity for Meghan Markle to consider spending more time in Europe.

Some have remarked that she should consider accepting the opportunity to host a radio show and visit London, as formal invitations from the Royal Family are reportedly unlikely due to past events.
