A Baffling Return To The Spotlight

Prince Harry had grand illusions and high hopes about his recent trip to the UK. He met with his father, King Charles III, for the first time in 19 months after a period of complete silence.

For a brief moment, the media seemed to accept the narrative. The press focused less on Prince William and Kate, labeling them as less engaging. The spotlight was on Prince Harry, with his numerous engagements and interviews.

Prince Harry attended the WellChild Awards, met with several families, made a surprise visit to Ukraine to focus on wounded veterans, and donated £1.1 million ($1.5 million) to BBC Children in Need, a charity dear to him. For the three days he was in the UK, Prince Harry brought out his A-game.

He delivered on fashion, charisma, and his unique ability to make magic when the cameras are around. The press was ready to say, “Bring him back home.” Some outlets even had the audacity to say that he should be King instead of his brother.

Those articles appeared to boost Prince Harry’s sense of accomplishment.

The Reckoning

The major public boost prompted Prince Harry to reveal in a sit-down with Joss Stone that he is eager to return to the UK with his children, Archie and Lilibet.

Stone stated: “He asked about how we were settling back in and was genuinely interested in our move home. He’s just very warm and down to earth, as always. Maybe Harry will move back, too. That would be nice. He was saying how wonderful the schools are here, and how important community is for children. It was nice to share that with him because it’s exactly why we felt drawn to come back—for the kids to grow up surrounded by family, friends, and a strong sense of belonging, and most importantly in a safe environment.”

A close friend of Prince Harry spoke to The Daily Beast, revealing that his plans to return to the UK are in full motion.

A source close to Prince Harry and Prince William told the outlet: “It’s no longer strictly necessary to put your kids’ names down at birth, but Harry has put Archie down. It’s fair to say he had mixed feelings about the school when he left, but looking back on it, he can appreciate the good.”

Another old school friend told The Royalist, “For William and Harry, Eton is really the only sensible choice when it comes to British schools, because of security. There are so many high-profile and politically exposed kids there that the whole school has ridiculous security provisions already. It’s seven-day boarding, lots of kids fly back and forth at the beginning and end of term, so why shouldn’t Archie? The school certainly wouldn’t be prejudiced against him. Statistically, you have to imagine Eton would be a hell of a lot safer than an American school thanks to their gun laws.”

A U-Turn

However, Prince Harry’s publicist was quick to quash the story about his return ticket to his native country. The Daily Beast noted: “Harry’s team initially brushed off the query in vague terms. However, after publication of this story, a spokesperson for the Duke said: ‘Prince Harry has not put his son’s name down for Eton, nor does he have any plans to do so.’”

Some royal reporters noted that Prince Harry made a U-turn after Prince William made it clear that he would not be intimidated by Prince Harry’s time in the spotlight.

An insider told the Daily Mail: “William is incensed by any notion of a comeback for Harry. The sense of betrayal he feels cannot be overestimated. Harry abandoned him and Kate, as well as the Firm.”

A second royal source stated: “William is more determined than ever to cut Harry off altogether .It infuriates William that Harry has pulled off a 12-month “master plan” to re-ingratiate himself.”

Additionally, King Charles’s decision to correct the narrative that he wants Prince Harry in a half-in, half-out scenario has prompted Prince Harry to reconsider his UK endeavors.
