King Charles Excludes Prince Harry And Meghan Markle From The Celebration

Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, should be delighted that they have made a great amount of progress with the Royal Family, but there is no reason to celebrate as yet — and that is not just figuratively, it is literally speaking.

Over the summer, King Charles III and Prince Harry made great progress in repairing their relationship after more than 18 months of zero communication. They met at Windsor Castle, where they had tea, cake, and biscuits, and shared hugs, laughter, and a few tears. Prince Harry even delivered a beautiful and emotional present to his father, a framed picture featuring his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Sandringham Snub and The Trust Test

However, Vanity Fair has revealed that King Charles is not yet ready to fully embrace the British-American family over Christmas.

This year, once more, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children will not join the other royals at Sandringham for the year-end festivities. A friend of the Royal Family explained to Vanity Fair that King Charles is happy with the progress but feels that not enough time has passed, or the progress is not deep enough, for him to have Prince Harry and his family back with the rest of the clan. The friend also suggested that Prince Harry needs to pass a test before being invited to such a big family event.

The royal insider told the media outlet: “Despite Prince Harry’s recent face-to-face meeting with King Charles, it’s not the case that Harry is going to be welcomed back with open arms and certainly not in time for Christmas. As far as the King is concerned, the door has always been left open for Harry, but Harry has to pass the trust test. If he does, then I think there could well be another meeting in the new year.”

The test will likely involve Prince Harry remaining silent about the Royal Family and not sharing any further grievances or secrets that could damage the monarchy.

Protecting William and Kate

Additionally, King Charles believes it is not the right time to upset Prince William by having his two sons under the same roof. He knows that Prince William has no intention of talking to his brother anytime soon. Therefore, he does not want to make the heir and Kate Middleton uncomfortable during the Christmas holidays. The gesture of protecting the heir and his wife’s mental well-being in a great Christmas gift to the pair.

The source went on to explain: “Although King Charles has been willing to meet with Harry, Prince William has no intention of speaking to his brother. With things being so dire between William and Harry, I’m not sure Harry would even want to be at Sandringham for Christmas. It would be very awkward. He knows he’d probably get quite a frosty reception from most of the family.”

Prince Harry’s Own Reservations

The source went on to say that even if Prince Harry and his family were invited to Sandringham, there is a huge possibility he would have turned it down because he himself is not ready to be in that uncomfortable position, where he would have to face an awkward face-to-face with his estranged brother and sister-in-law.

There is some good news for Prince Harry: King Charles is willing and able to meet him again sometime in 2026 for another father-and-son date.
