Meghan Markle is a modern American woman who married into the Royal Family, believing she would revolutionize a multi-century institution with protocols, traditions, and rules written in stone.
Unable to get her ideas across and unable to find the happiness she expected in the UK, Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, decided the best option would be to leave London and move to Canada, and eventually, with the help of Tyler Perry, relocate to California.
The pair, against all odds, have built a very luxurious life for themselves. They purchased a multimillion-dollar mansion and traveled to luxurious and exotic locations.
Prince Harry and his wife are seen in the finest designer brands whenever they step out for public events or private rendezvous. For the past six years, they have been able to afford their very costly security.
They were able to maintain their lifestyle by taking unconventional jobs and selling many royal secrets through Spare and bombshell documentaries.
Prince Harry has secured many speaking engagements focused on mental health. Meghan Markle kept the couple afloat through her Netflix career, her brand, As Ever, her podcast, and other lucrative partnerships with big brands such as Disney.
Financial Reality Sets In
However, in the past months, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been forced to face a tough reality. Netflix scaled back; they are no longer signing multimillion-dollar deals with Prince Harry and Markle; the podcast did not take off as hoped. And many experts believe that As Ever products will not make Meghan Markle the billionaire she aspires to be.
In tough times, Meghan Markle has been doing what most celebrity entrepreneurs have been doing: using social media to promote their brands.
The Viral Marketing Strategy
It started with Markle dropping that shocking video where she was in the hospital delivery room getting ready to give birth to Princess Lilibet. The video went viral, causing a frenzy in the Royal Family, but it put the spotlight on the product that Markle wanted to launch, so Prince Harry let it slide.
It looked like he understood how the media game is played. He accepted that Markle had to give a little of herself and her family to keep the users and potential customers engaged.
Harry Demands Privacy Control
However, Markle has continued to share private moments with the world. Several pictures of Lilibet and Archie have been posted on Markle’s official page, and one Halloween video, in which the children’s faces were visible for the first time. Markle also shared a video of Prince Harry looking miserable because his team, the Blue Jays, lost the World Series against the Dodgers.
Meghan Markle also used her and Prince Harry’s most personal moment to sell candles. Markle used her wedding date and the aroma of her wedding to make a candle that cost almost 70 dollars.
Prince Harry is saying this is too much and wants to regain control of their privacy. In response to increased exposure, sources close to Prince Harry told Page Six that he is now actively seeking greater privacy.
An insider close to the Duke of Sussex explained that he feels that Markle is repeating the mistakes made by Andrew Mountbatten Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew)’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson who used her title and ties to royals to sell books, appear on reality series and push products on QVC and a sit down with Oprah– decisions that the late Queen and King Charles detested.
The insider claimed: “Harry is aware that things like that are not a great look and Fergie-esque.”
The person noted that these moves are not Harry’s cup of tea. The source claimed: “He’s very aware of her parading him around,” said our source. “He doesn’t love the social media displays.”
The source concluded with this dire note: “The shine has worn off, which is fair at this point in a relationship. But he’s also blown up his life for her; he’s used to being universally loved. Now it’s the exact opposite: actively booed — such as when the couple was shown on the Jumbotron at the Dodgers game.”
Some royal watchers believe that Prince Harry might clear up this ugly leak by revealing that he is a willing participant and delighted to appear in Instagram photos with his family, because it is the best way to promote his many ventures, which provide them with streams of income.
One thing is clear: King Charles, who values privacy, may cringe as his youngest son faces this new dilemma.
