Prince William, between his royal engagements and shadowing King Charles III, has been able to loop in on one of the media narratives surrounding his estranged brother, Prince Harry, and sister-in-law, Meghan Markle.

Every holiday season brings optimistic reports — seemingly from the Sussex side — constructing a positive narrative and sparking speculation about reconciliation, often centering on the idea that Prince William has finally forgiven Harry and Meghan and is pursuing a temporary détente or reunion with the power couple for the sake of the monarchy or for optics.
Speculation of Harry’s Return and The “Trade-Off”
This week, the heartfelt tale comes from a publication that spins the story that Prince William, of all people, is working behind the scenes to push King Charles to take Prince Harry back as a working member of the Royal Family.
Building on previous speculation, the narrative suggests, according to a former Royal Family staffer, Ian Pelham Turner, via The Mirror, that after Prince Andrew was cast out and evicted, Prince William is suddenly open to a “trade-off.”
According to the sources who spoke to Turner, King Charles’s cancer diagnosis and treatment are the reasons the Monarch and the heir are having that discussion.
The former employee claimed: “My feeling at the moment is that, because of Charles’s cancer diagnosis, all these negotiations, perhaps, for example, with Harry, have been accelerated.”
King Charles believes it is more than doable because Prince Harry has spoken of spending more time in the UK, and it is clear that he enjoys the many royal tours he has been on recently in Canada, Africa, and Asia.
William’s Alleged Role in Reconciliation
According to Pelham Turner, Prince William still harbors some resentment towards the way his younger brother left the royal frontline.
Pelham Turner added, “So I think why all of this has happened now is that William has been placated about Harry coming back into the fold by getting rid of Andrew. There seems to be accelerations at the moment. One acceleration is bringing Harry back. And the second acceleration is getting rid of Andrew.”
The photographer also suggested that Prince William might be acting out of political necessity.
William’s Unwavering Stance and Ban
However, close sources to Prince William have confirmed to The Daily Beast that hell has yet to freeze over and, therefore, that he has no plans to talk to his brother. In fact, William does not discuss Harry or Meghan, and has reportedly told staff and friends not to mention Harry’s name.
It is clear that Prince William firmly opposes any return of Prince Harry to royal duties. He remains disinterested in collaboration or reconciliation, regardless of circumstance, and sources indicate his position remains unchanged: there is no plan to invite Prince Harry to royal events or to reintegrate him into the immediate family.
A close friend of Prince William told the Daily Beast: “Whoever is promulgating these ludicrous theories on Harry’s behalf is simply pretending not to get the message that he is not wanted. They are either very thick or pretending to be… There is, however, said to be ‘zero chance’ of the Prince of Wales forgiving his younger brother.”
According to sources, William’s position remains unchanged: there will be no invitation to his coronation or to any royal events, and no invitation for Prince Harry to be part of his immediate family again.
A royal source told the Daily Beast: “Why would William and Kate want all the distraction and circus that his presence would bring? I suspect that William will see Harry one more time in his life in the flesh—at their father’s funeral.”
Despite persistent tales often fueled around the holidays to make people feel hopeful about a reconciliation, sources close to Prince William have constantly and firmly confirmed that the Prince of Wales is not capable of moving forward or renewing family ties with his estranged brother.
