King Charles III is reportedly bemused by the sudden, “unreal image” that his youngest son, Prince Harry, has painted of their relationship in the press.
In September, against all odds, the impossible happened: King Charles made time for a brief, 55-minute meeting with his then-estranged second son. The pair met at Windsor for a conversation over cake and tea.
The King’s “Faked” Appointment To Cut Meeting Short
King Charles, a well-known workaholic, who keeps a tight schedule, apparently faked a medical appointment to prevent Prince Harry from prolonging the meeting.
Robert Jobson, royal author, revealed: “Wary of letting Harry prolong it, Charles had pre-arranged for the meeting to be interrupted with a warning that it was time for a medical procedure. In fact, there was no procedure scheduled, and there never had been.”
His Majesty’s plan worked to perfection, keeping the meeting brief.
Harry’s Future Plans “Parked” Indefinitely
Following the meeting, Prince Harry rushed to the media to express his delight and gave an update on his father’s health — something that infuriated King Charles.
Prince Harry also announced ambitious plans to be in the UK more often, so his children can spend time with their grandfather, make memories, and partake in British traditions.
However, King Charles is telling Prince Harry to put these plans on hold indefinitely.
Christmas Freeze-Out and The Waleses’ Exile
A source close to King Charles confirmed there has been no communication since September. The insider told The Times: “However, even as Christmas approaches, The Times understands there is little hope that either of these will lead to wider reconciliation. The duke will not spend time this month at Sandringham with the Royal Family, the seventh year they have been apart at Christmas. He also has not been in phone contact with his father since the meeting in September, it is understood.”
It is not surprising that there is no contact with Prince William and Catherine, who have reportedly erased the Sussexes from their lives.
Wales’s source confirmed the estrangement is still ongoing and added: “He still has no contact with the Waleses, after Prince Harry’s tell-all autobiography, Spare, made several damaging allegations about his family, including that Prince William punched him to the floor during an argument.”
Two Tales: Hope vs. “A Bridge to Nowhere”
There are two very different tales of the relationship. Team Sussex remains hopeful, while those close to the King say that the relationship is “exactly like a bridge to nowhere.”
Sources close to the King explained that Prince Harry believes in, or is imagining, a relationship that simply has not happened.
According to The Times: “While one source close to the Sussex camp claimed that Prince Harry and his father do speak, and said “yes” when asked if the relationship was going the right way, a source in London said the suggestion was “laughable.”
