Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are constantly reminded of their past actions and decisions, not only on social media but also by historians, reporters, and authors.
The upcoming book The Queen and Her Presidents: The Hidden Hand That Shaped History, penned by veteran political reporter Susan Page, is packed with stunning revelations about the British Royal Family.
There are several chapters devoted to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their interactions with the late Queen Elizabeth II.
According to unnamed members of the monarchy’s staff, the Queen was quick to form private suspicions about the former actress.
These feelings led to deep-seated tensions within the Palace walls. Based on the testimonies of senior royal aides, the Queen was far more skeptical of the Sussexes than her public persona ever suggested.
Queen Elizabeth Was ‘On To’ Meghan From The Start
A Palace aide revealed that the late Monarch welcomed the American actress with a ton of caution and questions.
She believed Markle was the most professionally polished of all those who married into the family, making her a potential threat to traditional royal operations.
A staff member explained: “Her Majesty had become wary of Meghan as an opportunist — was “on to her from the start,” the aide said — and one with public relations skills that left the Palace’s outdated press operation in the dust.”
The Bitter Divide Between The Heir And The Spare
The book also focuses on the great deceit, tension, and resentment existing between Prince Harry and his estranged brother, Prince William.
According to a senior royal aide, Harry‘s eventual break from the family was fueled by years of feeling relegated to “spare” or second-class status in comparison to his older brother, who was destined to be King simply because he was the firstborn.
A senior royal aide said: “Harry’s bitterness toward the palace staff and his own family stemmed in part from his resentment over being treated as a ‘lesser royal’ than William — perhaps inevitable, given that his brother was the heir apparent.”

The aide further illustrated Harry’s frustration by highlighting the literal distance placed between the two brothers within the royal residences. T

Susan Page further notes that the gossip surrounding Prince Harry’s biological father was not just a tabloid fixture, but a topic of open conversation among palace staff.
“Some staff openly speculated about whether Harry was in fact Charles’s biological son — the unsubstantiated gossip that the red-haired royal was the product of an affair between Princess Diana and the red-haired Calvary officer James Hewitt.”
