A strange and silly debate is taking place on social media about who is the King of R&B and Rihanna has decided to weigh in, and she thinks hands down that Chris Brown holds the title.
This week, all of a sudden R&B took center stage as well known singers such as Tyrese, Tank, Pleasure P, Jacquees, and even P. Diddy have been trying to decide who made the biggest impact on the genre.
Many fans believe R. Kelly is the king despite his controversial lifestyle; a few say, Usher, who has sold millions of albums, should be the one with the crown.
However, a source close to Rihanna told Hollywood Life, this is how she feels about the debate: “She thinks it is silly that Jacquees would think that he could be the king. Rihanna may like a few of Jacquees’ songs, but she feels like he has a long way to go before he is on the same level as her ex Chris.”
While Rihanna has no plans to get back with Chris, she still recognizes his work and talent.
The insider went on to say: “Despite Rihanna’s rocky history with Chris, she still has a lot of love for his talent and music.”
Another source said Chris is laughing at Jacquees and added: “Chris knows Jacquees, loves his music, and has even worked with him, but feels like it is disrespectful to him and to accomplished, Grammy-winning guys like Usher and R. Kelly to be calling himself the King of R&B.”
Fans of Rhythm and blues are also mocking Jacquees but not necessarily siding with Chris.
One comment on Instagram read: “He’s absolutely right. Jacques is most definitely not the King of R&B… and will never be. The Weeknd or Bruno Mars is the king of R&B for THIS generation, PERIOD.”
An R. Kelly fan claimed: “If a lady hasn’t thrown those panties on stage, if she doesn’t leave your concert and call Tyrone that walk with a limp, ???, if she don’t clean up and Saturday mornings listening to your music, im just saying, lastly if she doesn’t have a great auntie that will say “that lil boy can get this old cougar cat!!!”

This person interjected: “I got respect for your opinion, but CB definitely ain’t make no whole new generation of babies through his music yet! If we going off of his description, then REAL rhythm & Blues is not in CB category hun…of course not taking away from his ABSOLUTE talent! But that’s my opinion.”
Usher and R. Kelly are the artists most associated with this title, at least via search engines.
