President Donald Trump took to Twitter over the weekend, where he decided to like a very surprising tweet.
It is the only post that Trump currently likes, and many people — especially African Americans are shaking their heads.
The 73-year-old President liked a tweet from a fan of the HBO show, Insecure. The series, which stars and was created by Issa Rae, focuses on the black female experience in Inglewood, California.
Trump liked a post from @shiningheaux, which is a gif from The Color Purple. The fan wrote: “This is how I wanted tonight’s episode of insecure to end… Damn, Molly.”
The person was talking about Sunday’s episode where the characters, Molly and Issa, came to the conclusion that their longtime friendship was over.
Note that Trump is not following the user on Twitter, and people are really baffled as to why he liked the tweet knowing his complicated relationship with the black community.
One African American had this reaction to the surprising tweet: “November hurry up and come pick me up… it’s ghetto as hell here ???♂️making America great again has to mean bringing the slaves back duh??? Hey, at least he knows a good TV show when he sees one.”
A baffled voter shared this remark on social media: “Bro, this man is really in a bunker watching insecure while we are suffering ?This man is the definition of “IDGAF.” Millions of people have always hated him, and he never cares.”

A possible explanation was given for the eye-popping tweet by this person: “Anonymous plays too much ? 45 about to be upset in the morning ?Let’s all go to twitter and report him till his page gets taken down!! Who’s with me?”
A backer of POTUS defended him by saying he contributed to the African American community: “He wants to help our poor inner cities .. he’s helped various New York causes for years .. Jesse Jackson awarded him the Elis island award in 1987 with Rosa Parks and Mohammad ALI … look it up.”
Another commenter brought up racism in the conversation: “He probably only liked it because he saw two Black girls in a field…??♂️?no no no U guys are not paying attention. Look at the photo that’s attached to the like. That’s some purple color type of thing. If he loves black people, he would be liking photos of black people looking in a more progressive light. Trump loves money and not people in the field from the color purple.”
It is unlikely that the President will address the topic.
