The world knows exactly how Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, feels about her father, Thomas Markle, after the many leaked emails and letters during her court battle with the tabloids.
However, Meghan Markle has never publicly spoken about her father-in-law, Prince Charles.
In the much-talked-about new biography about the Sussexes, the truth comes out. According to the Duchess of Sussex’s close friends, Prince Charles’s kind gesture the day she married Prince Harry moved her heart and soul.
Many royal fans can remember that Thomas created a ton of drama days leading to the royal wedding with paparazzi photos, wild paid interviews, and a health scare that made it impossible for him to walk his daughter down the aisle.
When it was official that Thomas would not be present for Meghan, Prince Charles took on the role of the father of the bride and became part of the support system that she needed it that day.
A pal of the American actress revealed in Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of A Modern Family: “[Meghan] found such a supportive and loving father in Charles, which has really changed her life for the better.”
The Duchess’ friend went on to say that Meghan does not see Charles as a father-in-law, but a “second father.” Another source revealed that Charles appreciates his daughter-in-law.
The person explained: “Charles has taken a real shine to Meghan. She’s a sassy, confident beautiful American. He likes very strong, confident women. She’s bright, and she’s self-aware, and I can see why they’ve struck up a very quick friendship. Most of all, she’s married to [his] beloved youngest son and made him whole. Charles takes enormous delight and pleasure in that.”
The insider stated: “The Prince of Wales has always been fond of people from the Arts, like Emma Thompson, who he’s been mates with for years. Meghan ticks the boxes. Most of all, she’s married to [Charles’s] beloved youngest son and made him whole. Charles takes enormous delight and pleasure in that.”
The book also revealed that Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is also fond of Meghan, and they have worked hard to have a solid relationship.
Weeks before the wedding, Meghan, Harry, Charles, and Camilla took a brief vacation at the Castle of Mey to get to know one another and cement their relationship.
Some experts say that moving to California might have affected the relationship.
