Princess Anne Gets An Unusual Present For Her 70th Birthday And Her Mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Had Something To Do With It

Princess Anne's Birthday Mother Honor

Princess Anne turned 70. She celebrated the big occasion with style, as the Ministry of Defence honored the royal with the extraordinary Army and RAF awards for her “invaluable contribution and commitment to the military.”

This is far from the first military promotion for the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II.

Besides serving as Admiral Chief Commandant of Women in the Royal Navy, Princess Anne also ascended to the rank of General in the British Army and Air Chief Marshall in the Royal Air Force.

Before that, the royal performed military duties comparable to being Colonel-in-Chief and Colonel of certain Regiments and Honorary Air Commodore of RAF Brize Norton.

However, the recent promotion of Princess Anne was completely coordinated with the Queen, who gave her absolute approval for the procedure.

According to a statement from the palace, the daughter of the current monarch deserved the promotion, as “Her Royal Highness has been hugely supportive of the Armed Forces and undertaken a vast amount of work for the services over many years.”

In addition, Princess Anne had already established long-term links with the Royal Navy, first by serving with the Women’s Royal Naval Service before establishing herself as Admiral Chief Commandant.

The senior royal also paid an official visit to the Royal Logistic Corps in Northern Ireland in June in honor of the 100th birthday of the Royal Corps of Signal.

The statement went on to say: “This promotion on her 70th birthday recognizes her invaluable contribution and commitment to the military. This includes long-term links with the Royal Navy, initially through the Women’s Royal Naval Service and her promotion to Admiral Chief Commandant in 2012. More recently, she visited the Royal Logistic Corps in Northern Ireland and paid tribute to the Royal Corps of Signals to mark their 100th birthday in June.”

Princess Anne celebrated her birthday in the company of her spouse, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and the royal couple was able to enjoy some sailing along the coasts of Scotland.

A royal fan penned this kind message for the princess that read: “Happy birthday to this amazing and hardworking lady!? She looks a lot like her mother. The Queen ?❤️? History will show how The Princess Royal has always been a wonderful support to her brother and his sons as well as her parents.”

Princess Anne has a unique position in the British monarchy, and the public loves her for it. Some even want her to replace her mother.
