It seems like love is in the air in the royal family, as multiple weddings are reportedly either happening or being planned right now.
The most recent announcement came from Flora Alexandra Ogilvy, granddaughter of Princess Alexandra, who is Queen Elizabeth‘s cousin.
Ogilvy wed Timothy Vesterberg, an ice hockey star from Sweden. The couple, who had decided to keep their relationship under wraps for some time, opted for a more modest approach to their wedding.
According to the stunning photos, the wedding was a small, private ceremony, and the two did not want to draw any extra attention to what they were doing.
This could, of course, be partially motivated by the ongoing pandemic, and it would be a very reasonable response to the situation in that case.
Reports indicate that the two initially wanted to have a larger wedding, but were blocked by the guidelines currently in place, preventing large gatherings of multiple people.
However, they are still planning to compensate by having a “proper” larger wedding next year, provided of course that the situation calms down. Some royal fans are wondering, will the Queen attend the lavish affair?
There has been no specific date listed for the 2021 wedding, and it is possible that the two are waiting to see how the situation is going to play out before committing to any dates.
The happy bride announced on social media: “Timothy and I were married privately at Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace on Saturday 26th September. We are truly overjoyed and look forward to celebrating next year.”
A royal fan said she was disappointed that the bride did not wear one of her grandmother’s precious tiaras.
The person had this to share: “The pearl circle tiara would have matched right in perfectly… But Alexandra hasn’t worn it for ages, so it’s likely sold. I am so disappointed.”
One social media user posted this kind remark: “Princess Alexandra has the same beauty and elegance like her mother, late Princess Marina…?????”
Another royal backer brought up the tiara again: “Definitely a resemblance with her grandmother! Both very beautiful ladies! I love that she wore those earrings for the wedding! ♥️Oh, how I wish she borrowed one of Grandmama’s tiaras.”
