Prince William was photographed driving in London with a sad look on his face following reports he has spoken with his brother, Prince Harry, and snubbed Megan Markle over the weekend.
CBS anchor Gayle King, 66, a friend of Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey, revealed this week that she had spoken with the Sussexes and been told Prince Harry had talked on the phone with his brother, Prince William, and his father, Prince Charles.
It was reportedly the first time the brothers had spoken to each other since the Sussexes’ interview with Oprah Winfrey aired more than a week ago in both the US and the UK.
However, according to King, the conversation between the royals was “not productive.”
King also spoke about the Sussexes’ desire for the royal family to intervene with the media and stop the “unfair and inaccurate” stories running about Meghan Markle.
She said the stories definitely have a racial slant and shared that her friend, Meghan Markle, had paperwork to back up everything she had said in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Royal experts have said that the royal family is unlikely to be happy about details of their conversations being leaked to a media personality in America, particularly after saying in their response to the interview that they would be dealing with the issues raised “privately.”
However, King said that nobody from the royal family has spoken to Meghan Markle yet, despite their pledge to work through the tensions privately.
She added that the Sussexes want to “move forward and want healing within” Harry’s family.
She stated: “Well, I’m not trying to break the news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling, and it’s true, Harry has talked to his brother, and he has talked to his father too. The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive. But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation.”
The media personality continued: “And I think what is still upsetting to them is the palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still. No one in the Royal Family has talked to Meghan yet, at this particular time. And I think it’s frustrating for them to see that it’s a racial conversation about the Royal Family when all they wanted all along was for the royals to intervene and tell the Press to stop with the unfair, inaccurate, false stories that definitely have a racial slant.”
King concluded by: “And until you can acknowledge that, I think it’s going to be hard to move forward. But they both want to move forward with this, and they both want healing in this family. At the end of the day, that is Harry’s family.'”
Last week, Prince William responded publicly to a journalist’s question about whether the royal family was a racist family, replying that they were “very much not a racist family.”
