Halle Berry has responded to comments about her new controversial hairstyle on social media after first showing it off at the Academy Awards last weekend.
The 54-year-old actress was a presenter during the ceremony on April 25 and has been the subject of many comments this week after revealing her long locks had been exchanged for a much shorter and edgy bob cut that featured uneven bangs.
And Halle Berry attempted to respond this week by sharing a stunning photo confirming that she did not cut her long honey hair, but she created more drama.
In the photo, the Oscar winner is getting kissed by the sunlight while standing amid nature.
Wearing a cap, Berry flashes her million-dollar smile. Halle Berry poked fun at the people talking about her daring look by writing in the caption: “Oscar bob…just kidding. 😂”
The picture led to significant confusion because some fans explained that the photo is old and are wondering, did Halle Berry really cut her hair?
One supporter said: “So glad that was a wig – your natural hair is gorgeous.” This person shared: “That’s not her natural hair. This is another wig.”
A third social media enthusiast wrote: “Hate to tell everyone but this is an old pic from a previous video post…she has on the same shirt and cap.”
Earlier in the week, she addressed the controversy by retweeting a post from another social media user and posting two emojis — one crying laughing emoji face, alongside a weary face emoji.
The post, which the former Bond girl retweeted, was shared on Sunday and had been captioned “Halle Berry tonight.”
It showed a video of Saucy Santana wearing a bob and performing a part originally sung by Nicki Minaj on “Out Of My Mind” by B.o.B.
Ahead of the awards event, Halle Berry had already teased fans about her new haircut by sharing a photo of locks of her hair on the floor after hairstylist Sara Seward got to work with the scissors.
And while many people loved Berry’s new look, not everyone was impressed — with some comparing it to Johnny Deep‘s character, Willy Wonka, in the 2005 movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and the cartoon character Edna Mode from the Incredibles movies.
Other social media users responded to her new look by saying they never thought it was possible to make Halle Berry look bad, while others questioned who had given the Boomerang actress “a bowl cut.”
Halle Berry was joined by her boyfriend, Van Hunt, 51, on the red carpet on Oscars weekend after the couple cemented their relationship on social media last year.
On Sunday, Halle shared a string of photos to her Instagram account — captioned “Oscars 2021” — which included multiple snaps of herself wearing a pink Dolce and Gabbana gown and a sweet picture with Van Hunt where the couple is gazing lovingly at each other.
