There is a new couple in town — John Mulaney and Olivia Munn have been pictured on a romantic date after reports surfaced claiming that they were an item.
Over the weekend, a few pictures leaked online showing the pair laughing and smiling as they enjoyed a delicious meal together in a California restaurant.
The couple debuted their romance while casually dressed in jeans and T-shirts while eating lunch at Rick’s Drive-In & Out.
A source spoke to PEOPLE magazine and explained that the former Saturday Night Live writer and the actress had been good friends for several years and became romantically involved with each other after going through failed romances.
The person familiar with the situation revealed to the publication: “They were having a great time during lunch, laughing and talking. They were really enjoying each other’s company.”
The insider claimed that John Mulaney and Olivia Munn “met at church in Los Angeles” many years ago and stayed in touch via social media.
Another insider, who talked to Us Weekly, said while the relationship is new, the actress is head over heels for the stand-up comedian.
The person in the know shared with the magazine: “Olivia and John are going strong. She has been sneaking into some of his shows and loves them . . . Olivia is so smitten. Olivia is on cloud nine getting to know John and thinks he’s her dream guy. John thinks Olivia is really smart, and she makes him laugh too. They both have a very dry sense of humor.”
The romance between John Mulaney and Olivia Munn came to light following his divorce from wife Annamarie Tendler in May and his stay at a rehab facility to deal with addictions.
Toddler announced the split in a surprising statement that confirmed that she wanted to maybe save her marriage to Mulaney.
She said: “I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.”
In late 2020, Mulaney decided to enter a rehab facility after his alcohol and cocaine addictions got the best of him during the lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
He was sober for more than ten years before relapsing.
A pal said: “It was John’s decision to enter rehab, and it was a relief for his family. Plain and simple, John had too much downtime [in quarantine]. He had too much time in his own head.”
Fans are hoping that the two friends will find a way for the relationship to work.
