There was not always bad blood between Prince Harry and his older brother, Prince William.
There are many instances where one prince took a stand or made an unexpected move to help the other out of a potentially embarrassing situation.
It has been revealed that Prince Harry cried and was embarrassed upon discovering that he and his wife, Meghan Markle, were hanged out to dry by senior members of the royal family.
In his latest book about Queen Elizabeth II‘s grandsons, a royal expert has revealed that the last time they appeared together with their respective wives — Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, Prince Harry was set up to look bad.
In his book, Battle of Brothers, royal author Robert Lacey explained that Prince Harry struggled with his tears and the sense that he was a low-down on the royal totem pole as he made his last royal appearance in England.
Meghan Markle and her spouse attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey alongside Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, and the Duchess of Cambridge.
The event took place just weeks before the pair stepped down from their positions as working royals and moved to California.
Upon arriving at the ceremony, the Sussexes became “quite sensitive and emotional about it” to learn that they had been royally snubbed.
The historian revealed in his bestseller that 2,000 orders of service had been distributed to the public before the ceremony took place, explaining the essential details.
The flyers revealed that Prince William and his wife accompanied by the family, would enter the Abbey together during the procession.
Names of the people who were part of the main royal party were mentioned — minus Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The Duchess of Sussex and her spouse felt snubbed and were “quite sensitive and emotional about it.”
When Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge discovered the embarrassing plan, they took the decision to act.
The future king and queen of England opted not to walk in the procession to correct the blunder.
According to the expert, the photos from the event showed the Duchess of Sussex flashing a Hollywood smile to save face while Prince Harry hid his tears.
Lacey wrote: “So there was the snub in black and white – set out for all to see. Observers also noted that Harry’s face was ‘quite tense and unsmiling’ – and that when William sat down close to him, he barely greeted his brother.”
He added: “Throughout the service, Meghan megawatted away with her best TV smile, but, as the ceremony progressed, Harry appeared to grow gloomier. According to one observer, ‘his accelerated blinking even suggested he might have been fighting back tears.'”
The two brothers have not been on the same page in recent months.
