Sadly, Camilla no longer plays the role she once had in the princes’ life, explaining why Prince Charles and Prince Harry have not really spoken in the past eight months.

According to the late author and royal expert Judy Wade, Camilla Parker Bowles never tried to replace Princess Diana, but she rapidly understood how she could be useful — she was a buffer and mediator for the trio.
The article explained: “It’s worth noting Camilla apparently never tried to take Diana’s place. Funnily enough, nowadays, she acts as a ‘buffer’ between the boys and their father. In a 2007 documentary about William and Charles, the late royal expert Judy Wade revealed that Camilla serves as a go-between, particularly when Charles’ sons do something their father wouldn’t necessarily approve of.”
Camilla Parker Bowles knew when to speak up and push for resolutions between the boys and their father.
However, she knew her place as a stepmother and was aware of when to stay mum. The article revealed that she never questioned Prince Charles’ parenting style.
The author had stated: “Notably, Camilla never actually interfered with how Charles was raising them — not only because she was too busy taking care of her own children, but also because she trusted his judgment.”

He explained: “She’s not trying to overshadow the memory of their mother, and in normal life, it’s a very difficult job being a stepparent. Particularly of a birth parent who died because the birth parent who died is often held out as being the perfect person whose life was cut short, cruelly. She hasn’t tried to replace Diana. She’s just tried to be somebody who’s there for them, who loves their father, who cares for them.”
It is strongly believed that Prince Harry will use a good portion of his upcoming book to shed more light on his complicated relationship with his stepmother, Camilla Parker Bowles.
